KS Senior Games, 50m, 8.30, hand timed.
PR!
I took it easy on the warmup, to see how my hamstring felt. It felt a bit stiff by loosened up quickly and was never an issue.
Today's new challenge for me: we had a false start in our heat (not me). This was weird, mostly because I felt more on edge for the second start.
I was really focused on this race, because I knew I could do well. I tend to get fast starts, then fade in the 100. But 50m is a good distance for me.
Here I am at the start with my game face on:
The woman to my right (285) is the Leavenworth woman who beat me in the 100m.
I concentrated hard on my start, but I still muffed it slightly. Then I stayed low and said to myself "dig, dig, dig". I didn't look up until about half way through the race, and then the line was so close :) I finished very close to Stephanie (285) and just ahead of third place. When the timers came up to tell us our times, they said first place was 8.12, third place was 8.52 and I was 10.30. Huh??? Luckily, a separate timer was responsible for noting the order of finish, and it was clear that I was second. So they consulted each other, and decided my time was 8.30. Fine with me :) I'm sure the decimals are off, but at least it was the correct number of seconds. And any way you look at, it was a PR.
