Note

The part of me that hurts the most are my quads. Obviously, more hill work is needed. Surprisingly, the rest of my legs don't hurt, although they're not very pretty.

I had an OK run. Not great, not bad. I need to get in shape.

Now spending some time chasing our niece and nephew around.

Fun weekend. More later.

day 2 map

Some comments:
--Pleased with my approach to 3, and that I didn't wander too much when I first missed it.
--Totally brain dead, with no plan, on the way to 5. Hit a trail, and was totally confused. Too much wandering, in the wrong areas.
--Seven was really annoying. I was within 10 meters of the control, but I failed to notice I was down one contour line. Instead, I decided to stick to my plan of bailing out to the trail to relocate. Sigh.

Well, I wanted this to be a "race of the year". But I didn't want it to take top prize in the "worst" category. Took about 80 minutes to get close to C6. Another hour to keep searching, give up and walk it in. Ugh.

Also, I took a real header as I was running down a hill. Rolled over and over for a few meters. Lots of bumps on my left leg and other body parts very glad I'm on prescription anti-inflammatory

But that doesn't mean I didn't have fun. It was great weather, great course and map. And fabulous terrain. All around first class.

day 1 route until Forerunner battery was done near 6. So was I, it turns out. I really thought I had fallen just as I was nearing C6. It wasn't until I downloaded my track that I figured out where I really was. In a way, it was a relief to find this out. Because when I finally relocated in this area (not shown on the track), I couldn't believe I had wandered so far. Turns out, I hadn't.

Of course, if I hadn't fallen and wandered, I still would have been in a world of hurt, and I imagine it would have taken me a long time to relocate.

Gave up after my second attempt to find 6. Made it down the hill, found a trail and went to the finish. Did most of the white course along the way :)

Note

Shoot! Wish I was running the sprint finals. I could've been a gazelle.

Heading to the classic Champs. This is my "race of the year", meaning I'd like to have my best result in terms of clean navigation and consistent pace. Have absolutely no expectations of how I'll place. Looking forward to racing against so many others in my age group. But mostly looking forward to seeing lots of good friends.

Trail run at Clinton. Felt a bit ragged, but that's probably since I hadn't done a trail run since Sept 18th. Knee felt fine during the run. A little stiff when I got home, so I iced it.
