Heading off to a PTOC event. Since I have been staying up too late the last few nights, I am sleepy. Concentration is the word, and plan, of the day. And of course, check the control codes.

Orange course at Blue and Grey. Concentration was mostly OK, except for leaving C6. Just couldn't seem to follow my compass. I was still confused as I approached C8. But I stopped, and tried to figure out the contours. Obviously I was wrong, but I had a plan to bail out to the trail, and I executed it.

Looking over the whole course, I seem to have had difficulty keeping a straight line when it was called for. I tend to drift down hills. Need to work on that.

I don't remember stepping on a rock, but my left arch is hurting now that I'm home. Hope ice is all that is needed.

decided to run at the arboretum tonight. Took a map with last summer's course, and added a few more points. Started out running on the crusty, residual snow, but my legs got tired pretty quickly. Spent the second half mostly on the clear paved trail. That was tough, in a different way, since i rarely run on paved surfaces. It's evident that I haven't run in more than a week and a half.

Nice to have a day of rest and time to adjust to real life again. Snowing here in Lawrence; we expect a few inches. Best to stay indoors, do some laundry and catch up on the Olympics.
