Long and awesome ski around TD. Gave the busted Madsnusses back to the shop to mail in, so I got out the cheapo Rossi 180s I got on super sale last summer. They obviously have no flex but the bottoms are sexy smooth. A couple inches of new snow last night, plus early grooming, plus baking in the crystal clear blue sky all morning, meant the trails were solid and greasy fast. Did a long flat tour around the valley, then decided it was too good to go in yet, but didn't want to repeat on another lap since that makes less cool gps tracks, so I went up and across the front of the mt and out windy ridge, which was fortunately not too windy today.

Flying out to VT tonight for more awesome ski-o.

ski-o! 2:45:04 [2] ** 21.68 km (7:37 / km)

hanging controls at Tahoe XC, then skiing around in circles on the newly groomed snowmobile trails to leave lots of tracks to confuse people. much crazy double poling.

control pickup with Alex. Everyone seemed to like the race. Yea skinny trails.

Ski-O day 6: Auburn
Three maps, 4" of new snow on the trails, and a couple stupid dotted trail legs (straight down an 8 contour hill? straight up an 8 contour hill?), made for a not so fun race. The parts through the center of the map where there are lots of trails and junctions and the course actually stayed on them was actually pretty fun though. Rafi went out with reckless abandon and beat us all by 10 mins, then I was second about a minute ahead of Donatas.

Ski-O day 5: Royal Gorge
A couple inches of snow overnight, but they groomed in the morning just before the race so everything was complete fluff. Except for the one trail that they groomed during the race. I got there afterwards, but Scott and Alex hit it beforehand, which I suppose wasn't too fair. Two mistakes, one big one for 3.5 mins, the other for only about 30s. Everybody had some big ones today, the trails on the map were definitely not mapped right, so bushwhacking between them turned out dodgy because the mapped and real distances between them varied a lot (200% or so for my mistake? gps don't lie). Finished second, 9s behind Rafi, and 9s ahead of Donatas.

Ski-o day 4: Northstar
Pretty good race, had a bad route choice to the first one, and messed up execution on the off trail cut to #4 (though it was probably a bad route choice anyway), but the other legs were ok. Shoulder didn't hurt too bad, just weak on the uphills, and I was being extra careful to not bail on any of the downhills. Finished second to Donatas by a lot, like 5 mins or so.
