Putting out flags and SIs at Burngoogee for tomorrow's interclub. So much wetter out there today than last weekend, with water flowing in places I haven't seen it before! Cold but brilliant morning in the forest with sunshine and no wind. Hope it's the same tomorrow.
Given how wet it was, I was a bit surprised that what looked like an experienced group cutting firewood (lots of dead trees pushed down by Forestry in the fires last year) decided to reverse their large non 4WD truck off the road to get closer to the logs. Result: instantly bogged. Failed attempt to pull it out with their 4WD ute so I offered to assist, suggesting I also hook up my snatch strap on the Prado but they declined and I went off to put out controls. Seems the truck had a winch on the back so they decided to try to winch the truck closer to the logs (why??) resulting in a deeper bog AND a burnt out winch.
As we were leaving, another bloke turned up in a 4WD ute with a front winch. Will be interesting to see if the truck is still there tomorrow:-)
