Orienteering race (Night O) 19:43 [3] 2.53 km (7:49 / km) +3m 7:46 / km
shoes: Salomon Trail

Night event at Lok Cabay, as part of the NOL events. Only ran the short course (that became even shorter!) as Deb and I don't have good lights. About 10 entrants and a mass start which saw everyone do a 180 out of the start box as the shortened course went behind us! Nav was ordinary for the 1st one and last two. Rest were OK. Fun event.

Orienteering race (NT Sprint Champs) 19:18 [5] *** 3.52 km (5:29 / km)
spiked:15/17c shoes: Nike Pegasus 28

Sprint race at Charles Darwin University and adjoining coastal dunes. I ran up in 45-54's and ran a pretty steady race, slow to get into the map so careful on 1. 2 through 8 were good with no errors and moving well. At 9, I misread the description as stairs rather the wall and ran straight past the flag. Lost about 30 secs before checking and going back. 10 to 12 good but poor exit from 12 cost me time and compounded that by missing 13, the first one in the dunes, well to the left. Probably lost over a minute here. 14 to the finish good although hard going in the softer sand areas. Happy with 3rd place, behind Lance Read and Tim Hatley.

A really good area , especially in the complex Uni buildings and an excellent course.

Running 52:59 [3] 10.14 km (5:14 / km) +80m 5:02 / km
shoes: Salomon Trail

Morning run from our van park about halfway between Batchelor and Litchfield NP. An out and back run along the road (not too many options!). Started with Deb and we ran together for the first km or so then I moved off a bit faster. Deb turned around at a bit over 2 km. I headed on to 5km and then ran back. Glad that the 4 pit-bull terriers near my turn around point were behind a strong fence as they sounded a little upset at me for running past!

Morning run in Jabiru. Started with Deb and we ran from our van park down and around 2 sides of the Lake. Deb continued around the lake and back to the van. I headed straight on and saw the remaining sights of Jabiru: golf course (grass greens!), footy and cricket ovals, school and swimming pool and then back through the centre of town and on the van park. Actually a well set up little town, obviously focused on the nearby Ranger Uranium mine.

Rest of the day spent looking at some really good Aboriginal rock painting at Anbangbang (pronounced Arn-Barng-Barng) and then a short but spectacular scenic flight over Kakadu and Arnhem Land.

Morning run out and back along the bike track on the Stuart Hwy from our motel in Darwin. Significantly warmer than recent runs with the temp around 18C and a sign of what to expect for next weekends NT Champs events.
