Running race (Road Runners) 37:45 [5] 8.0 km (4:43 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11

Roadies again at San Isadore. Handicap day but I went out early as we were going to a friends place to watch the AFL. A bit difficult to pace myself without anyone else around but got into a good rhythm and was again pleased with the way I got up the hills. About 5 degrees warmer today so expected my time to be well up on last week but very happy with just 2 seconds slower!

Running 41:00 [3] 7.8 km (5:15 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11

Morning run around the Lake and home via Lansdowne. Foggy again but not too cold. Met Spokesy and his border collie near the Boat Club and we ran together and talked until the bridge at the northern end of the lake.

Note
(rest day)

Bit slack this morning: woke up and looked outside to see thick fog so back to bed! No time in the afternoon with some essential shopping and then out to a function.

Orienteering (Sprint training) 17:35 [4] *** 3.1 km (5:40 / km)
spiked:17/18c shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11 2nd pair

Decided it was time for some Sprint training so set a course at CSU. Briohny came along for the run too to give me some competition and keep me working hard (I had to start first as usual!) Not too difficult and hit them all pretty well with the exception of the 2nd last one where I ended up on the wrong level in the building but only lost a few seconds. Straight line distance was 2.8km, Garmin measured 3.1km.

A nice fun hitout and managed to hold Briohny off by 15 seconds but she had some leg trouble again:-(

This is a nice map, better now that the new buildings have been added, but I don't know when we might be able to use it again for a bigger event.

Running 51:20 [3] 10.0 km (5:08 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11 2nd pair

Afternoon lap of the Lake from home. Started out with Briohny and we ran the first 4km or so together, then her leg started to cramp and she stopped to stretch, insisting I keep going. I did the full lap and back home via the Boat Club. A slight interruption when a friendly dog decided to run with us instead of it's owner so we had to stop and take it back!

Cycling 45:20 [3] 15.25 km (2:58 / km)

Afternoon cycle. Back to my original loop around Lake Albert, Rawlings Pk, Brunskill and Mitchell rds and then back into Rawlings Pk and home via the Boat Club. Haven't been on the bike for quite a while and felt it in the knees today!

Orienteering race 53:10 [5] **** 5.6 km (9:30 / km) +180m 8:11 / km
spiked:12/13c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 270

Club event at Shockeroo Track. This is a really nice area (across the road from Burngoogee where we held the NSW Champs last year). Unfortunately, Forests have declared it a Flora Reserve and only let us use it for club events, so no real point in re-mapping. Still at 1:15000 which is always a challenge with my eyes!

Started well hitting 1 to 5 with no issues and in reasonable time. Navigated straight to where 6 should have been but no flag on the boulder? Spent a few minutes looking nearby but there was no more rock so went back to the big gully then started looking further north and found the flag about 150m away. By this time Briohny had apparently been and gone (she started 2 mins behind me). No more problems but a little slow on some of the climbs (legs a bit weary after the last few days). Was very surprised to see Bri at the finish and she well and truly cleaned me up. Still a very enjoyable run with the forest looking great, if a little wet underfoot.

Orienteering 55:00 [3] 4.7 km (11:42 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 270

Collecting controls after todays event. Mostly the same as the course earlier but managed to muck up a couple - lacking the focus of the race earlier I guess.
