Running race (Canberra XC) 18:54 [5] 4.1 km (4:37 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11

Decided to have a crack at the Canberra Saturday XC race as it was just a few kms from the hospital where Briohny is recovering.

It was a loop course on Dunrossin Drive and was a bit shorter than I had expected (good). First half I felt a little tired but by the second half I was feeling good and pushed home fairly hard. Pretty pleased with the time.

(rest day)

Early start in Canberra for Briohny's leg surgery. Had to be at the hospital by 6:15am. Long day waiting around and then post-surgery. Didn't really have an opportunity to do any exercise nor did I feel like it! Will try and make up for it over the weekend.

Running 34:40 [3] 6.4 km (5:25 / km)

Fun morning run in Deni State Forest. Out before sunup and a bit eerie in the forest in the semi-dark! A bit slow in the dark but picked up the tempo in the second half as it got light.

Happy birthday Briohny:-)

(rest day)

Long day out in schools today, so no running. Did manage a bit of chipping and putting practice at Deni Golf Club. Looking forward to the Easter weekend for both O and golf!

Running 55:25 [3] 9.8 km (5:39 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 11

After work run in Deniliquin State Forest. Nice conditions for running and felt pretty good the whole way although took it pretty steady. Lots of water in the billabongs with a couple flooding the tracks so had to do a few detours through the scrub. Didn't see a single sole until I came out of the forest near the showgrounds.

Orienteering race 50:10 [5] *** 5.3 km (9:28 / km) +160m 8:13 / km
spiked:8/9c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 270

Club event at Wolfram on 1:15000. Discovered I had broken my thumby compass when I fell after the last control last week at Clandulla, so had to borrow one today. Will need to purchase a new one at (before) Easter!

Excellent 1st leg with lots of route choice: I went widish right and up a rocky gully and I think I was probably the fastest, although I didn't check on Tristam's (Miller -ex Cockatoo now in Wagga) time on his slightly straighter line.

Good through the whole course today, with only a slight hesitation at 5 when I stopped a bit short. Running was also good after a slow start - the red wine and pizza from last night's gathering at our place didn't seem to effect me:-)

The new Inov8s were excellent, very light but good traction in the rocks, although a blister on right heel was a nuisance and will need taping next time.
