Orienteering race (NSW State League 1) 38:12 [5] *** 5.37 km (7:07 / km) +140m 6:18 / km
spiked:9/10c shoes: Helly Hansen Trailcutter

First State League at Clandulla, on World Masters qualifier map. Relatively straightforward course in mainly spur gully area. Started well and picked off 1-3 without issue then ran very wide after a road drink stop between 3 and 4, loosing probably 2 minutes. Ran hard to try and make up time and got through wihout further error. Finished about 2.5 minutes down in 3rd.

Distance is from Briohny's Garmin (finally worked it out!) Course distance was 4.6km.

Hmm, another rest day - well, I did get in 9 holes of golf after work!

Driving to Capertee tomorrow ahead of the State Leagues at Clandulla. Might do a bit of a bush walk in the afternoon if the weather is OK.

Running 50:50 [3] 10.2 km (4:59 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

Afternoon run out past the Boat Club and now FULL Lake Albert - amazing what a drop of rain can do! - into Rawlings Park and return. A reasonable pace in the first half, reaching my "16 minute tree" in under 16 minutes for the first time in several years. Slowed a bit on the way back home into the breeze.

A fair bit of flood damage with the Lake running/cycle track washed out in a couple of places including a 4m wide x 1m deep gap adjacent to the bridge near Apex Park (in my photos in yesterday's log) - interesting to see how Road Runners negotiate this on Saturday as it is just near the start/finish. Also plenty of smaller wash outs in Rawlings Park. Water still flowing into the Lake on both sides and it is now fuller than the current Google Earth image

Orienteering race (Club training weekend) 35:00 [3] * 2.6 km (13:28 / km) +60m 12:04 / km
spiked:6/8c shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

Street/park run in Beechworth using the 2003 Aust Relays map. Started OK getting 1 and 2 but was having a great deal of difficulty reading the map detail in the overcast gloom and subsequently blew 3 badly. Got back on track again until leaving 6 when it started raining heavily and I again lost the map detail, causing a major meltdown on 7. Last one was OK but overall a very poor effort. Need to review my eyewear before next weekends opening State Leagues.

Rain became so heavy we cancelled the 2nd session and headed to the Bakery for coffee.

Drove home after lunch to the wettest Wagga I can recall. At my place we have recorded almost 110mm today, on top of 33mm on Friday. Wagga even made the ABC TV weather report!

Orienteering race (Club training weekend) 27:19 [4] * 3.2 km (8:32 / km) +40m 8:02 / km
spiked:10/13c shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

Night O at La Trobe Beechworth campus (where we were staying). A nice tricky course on a very dark night. Ran pretty well after a false start which required me to return to the start after the first control and change my glasses as I couldn't see a thing! Still managed to take the win:-)

There were also some "Ghost Tours" being conducted at the same time around the old "Lunatic Asylum" and I think we might have given a few of the participants a scare or two, appearing suddenly out of the dark with our headlamps and torches.
