Orienteering 3:00:00 [3] ***
shoes: UK Gear PT03 trail

Out early placing controls at The Rock ahead of tomorrow's club event. Haven't been out here for a while and it was pretty nice, especialy after the good overnight rain. Forest perhaps a little cleaner (drought?) in places but I still have some trouble getting the locations correct in the old mining areas so took my time. Plenty of wildlife about, mostly roos but spotted one Echidna and no snakes!

Running race 30:17 [5] 6.5 km (4:40 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus 9

Road Runners, start and finish at the Wagga Beach. Over to the North Wagga (mud) Flats! After last night's 25mm rain, the tracks were pretty messy but a nice course, different to last year. Coog's intro had made it sounds like we were heading into the WW1 trenches but it wasn't that bad! Felt really good in the run and maintained a good pace throughout.

Course was advertised as 7.1km but I knew it had to be shorter when I looked at my time. That would have given me a 4:15km rate which I'm not capable of :) Briohny's Garmin showed the real length at 6.5km!

See Briohny's trog for course image.

Running 49:35 [3] 9.6 km (5:10 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 9

Afternoon run out past the Boat Club, around the Lake and into Rawlings Park and return. Felt comfortable on the way out but some lower back pain slowed me down on the way home. Had to stop and stretch a couple of times.

Orienteering race 38:00 [5] **
spiked:28/30c shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 9

Dropped in at a Gold Seekers club score event at Lake Canobolas this morning. Was in Dubbo yesterday for a wedding and came home via Orange to visit my mum!

A nice area, controls were all was pretty straightforward and managed to get all 30 controls with 7 minutes to spare - but still mucked up a couple! Good to have a hit out after a couple (or so) beers at the wedding last night!

Haven't been to Lake Canobolas for many years (since I lived in Orange way back in 1985 probably). Very popular sports venue today with Road Runners and Triathletes out there as well as the Orienteers.
