Running race 15:45 [4] 3.5 km (4:30 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus 9

Road Runners at CSU Winery. Ran the short today as tackling Nail Can Hill run tomorrow morning. Pushed out pretty hard and was surprised to be able to maintain the pace, even up the long hill. Good hit out and by far the quickest I have run in a long while.

Running 49:00 [3] 9.4 km (5:13 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus 9

Ran with Briohny from her place along Urana St and Glenfield Rd up to the track between Hilltop and Bourkelands and then along the ridge back to Red Hill Rd. I then headed south along the lower track and home whilst Briohny did the big climb over the top of Willans back to her place.

Great conditions and a really enjoyable run. Briohny pushed me along at a fast pace (for me) which was good. Picked up a passenger (Labrador dog) that followed us along the Bourkelands Ridge and then followed me almost to home. Was a bit like peak hour up on the ridge with lots of people walking, exercising dogs, even a girl reading what looked like study notes!

Golf 4:15:00 [3] 6.0 km (42:30 / km)
shoes: Proline

Haven't logged any golf for ages, although did I mention I had a week off a few weeks back and played every day! Not really training but a good long walk!

Nice to get out: a cool and sunny day. First nine a red hot 23pts; second nine a paltry 13!

Running intervals 13:30 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus 9

Intervals at Nelson Drive (Boat Club Rd), same as last week but managed 4 x 450m repeats today in cooler weather:

1:26, 1:29, 1:30, 1:25

Last one surprised me as I thought I was slowing down! Got a few funny looks from people walking their dogs :-)

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel Cumulus 9

Jog to Nelson Drive for Intervals and return afterwards.

Orienteering race 1:15:31 [3] **** 6.8 km (11:06 / km)
spiked:13/17c shoes: Asics Gel Trabuca trail

ACT Championships at windy Boboyan Divide. As has been said elsewhere on AP, this area is deceptive: looks fast but the fallen timber and tussock grasses make for leg weariness.

A reasonable run apart from large errors at 6 and 8 and a couple of minors. At 6 made the fatal error of watching the runner in front of me and thus lost map contact, stopping short of the control and losing about 3 minutes. 8 was just dumb: way too high on a side slope - another 2 minutes here.

Despite these errors, I was still surprised how far back I was timewise. I think the day before at Honeysuckle took a lot out of my not yet fit legs and I couldn't really get going. Will need to get cracking on the fitness ahead of the sanddunes at WMOC! Enjoyed the course which was well planned and used the area well.
