Running race 36:18 [4] 7.4 km (4:54 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Saturday Road Runners. 1st run for March, so back to the 1:00pm time slot and very hot (34C). Course around south end of Lake Albert is nice (familiar territory as close to home) and I had a good run. Started slowly to make sure my achilles was nicely warmed up (seems to be responding to the regular stretching and icing) and then picked up the pace a little. My best placing in a long time (7th) but a few of the guns were missing today!

Orienteering race 42:35 [2] * 7.8 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Street event in Tolland/Bourkelands. Achilles still very iffy so decided to take it slow and avoid most of the climb though not really possible in this area. Reasonable run in warm and humid conditions after the great rain of the last few days (41mm at home Tues-Wed).

Note

Golf today. Course very wet after morning storm dumped about 25mm but can't use that as an excuse for playing REALLY bad!.

Tuesday Feb 27, 2007 #

Note

Rest day (injured). Still battling achilles trouble in right leg , stretches and icing.

Running 40:00 [3] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 8

Monday night intervals at Jubilee but track still closed. Another good session with Mark, working on technique and doing some sprint resistance runs using mini parachutes and a harness, then some stretches, plus warm up and warm down laps.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] **** 3.5 km (17:09 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Placing controls for Training weekend race in Beechworth Gorge. Super humid conditions this morning after yesterday's heavy rain. Had to make a few changes as selected sites not ideal for level of experience of some of our members.

Orienteering 30 [3] **** 3.0 km (10 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave Trail

Collecting controls in the Gorge after this morning's final training weekend activity. Easy when you know where they all are! Back to the Uni for a welcome shower and lunch before headng home.

Overall a very enjoyable weekend. Great location and good maps, good company and some positive outcomes especially for our newer folk.

Accommodation very good (on campus at La Trobe and on the Sprint/Night O map), apart from the fire system that went off at 2:00am!
