Annual SSS run whilst in Sydney for the Sculptures by the Sea. Nice flat map at Meadowbank. Just one mistake where I almost ran across the river!

Last bush event for the year on a glorious day out at Burngoogee. Sean Sunley set a tough but fair task. Good through the first 5 then a little high on 6. Long legs to 7, 8 and 9 and I only came unstuck in the last 100 m into 9, drifting right in the light green and ending up on the wrong spur, loosing about 3-4 minutes, but still held on for the win.

Street and park events ahead, together with some mapping work for Oceania/Schools 2019, plus a couple of new maps for the club and a local school.

Tough day at the office. Ran the whole race with Briohny which was great however we both had issues: Briohny a bad cold and ongoing leg issues (hopefully soon to be rectified) and I was very underdone on fitness, plus was warmer than past couple of years. Kept each other going at different times. Despite lots of walking, my time was only 5 minutes slower than last year (Briohny's however was well done) and I scored 1st male over 60 award:-)

Deb ran again after her great run last year but struggled with the heat and hills and, although only 10 minutes slower than last year, she suffered. Think this will be our swansong in running in this event but will still attend in a support capacity.

The best event of the week for me with 7th place but it could have been much better. Really enjoyed the technical rock and the course setting. Still managed a big stuff up on 8 when got to cocky and didn't take a careful compass bearing out of 7. Had caught Mel by 2 minutes at 4 and we ran together thru 7 and both mucked up 8. I lost about 6 minutes here. With Mel again for 9 and 10 but then he went right to 11 and missed it and I went left and got ahead.

A good run spoilt by a brain fade at #5. Stopped short when I misread the map and subsequently wasted 5 minutes. Somewhat disappointed in technical level as most controls seemed to verge on moderate standard.
