Street event from our place. Deb set some good controls that made use of the adjoining Rocky Hill reserve and the many laneways in Kooringal. Pretty hot (32-34 degrees) so we limited all runners to 30 minutes and I took it real slow. Hammy not as bad as yesterday but still needs work and time.

Afternoon run around part of the Lake and on to Briohny's house. Deb dropped me off on her way to walk Darcy the dog! A slow and somewhat painful run with fairly constant hamstring discomfort. Stopped and stretched after about 15 minutes and that helped a bit. Still some rehab to do.

Morning ride down to the river and along to Wiradjuri Bridge and across into North Wagga (first time on the bike!) to check out some options for February Road Runners course - not good as grass is over a metre high at a couple of key places. Came back across the bridge and decided to try the single track down near the water (another first on the bike!). It was a lot of fun although it does get very close to the water in a couple of spots!

Road Runners from the beach out to Wiradjuri reserve and part way to the Gobba Bridge then back. Very warm and humid this morning. I probably went out a bit hard and, after the stop for water and Lamingtons (it IS Australia Day!), I struggled home. Forgot my Garmin so distance from Briohny's Garmin and time is a "gestimate".

Soaked the feet in the river at the end (and Ryder did too!). Bacon and egg roll and fresh fruit afterwards were excellent.

Nice morning run in Cootamundra from my motel up past the golf course and into a nearby stock reserve. Quite hilly but good to be off the streets. Came back via part of what looks to be a very good mountain bike track.

Morning run with Deb in Christchurch before out flight home this afternoon. Ran around the outside of Hagley Park and part of the Botanic Gardens. Struggling with a cold. Garmin battery completely dead so time and distance estimates only.

Morning run around (a small part of) Lake Wanaka (it's 45 kms long!) in the central South Island. Great to run in such a scenic location, with the Lake and snow capped mountains in the distance. My short run pales somewhat compared to what is happening here on Saturday: Challenge Wanaka Ironman Triathlon!

Walked part of the Queen Charlotte Trail from Lochmara to Anakiwa. We caught a boat ride to Lochmara Lodge and then walked back to the YHA at Anakiwa. A pretty tough walk with some steep climb in the first half before a steady grade for the rest. Weather threatened to close in the first couple of hours with some rain but cleared to a nice day. Really enjoyed tha spa at the YHA afterwards.

An OK run apart from a stupid error on 2 where I didn't read the description and was looking for a gully instead of a spur and then a poor route choice to 5 where I ended up too low and lost about 10 minutes before relocating. Struggled with the physical nature on limited training, particularly weak on the hills with recurrence of hamstring problems.

Oceania Sprint at Wellington College. OK start apart from not being able to read the map in the forest section. Nav was OK once in the buildings until 9 where I lost time on a poor route choice and also slow on the next couple before a big error on 16 where I lost about 3 minutes. Disappointed overall.

Oceania Middle distance in sand dune terrain. Only got off the plane yesterday so wasn't expecting too much so pleased with my run apart from an 2 minute error on #10.
