Running 31:57 [3] 6.19 km (5:10 / km) +52m 4:57 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 13

Afternoon run from Briohny's place to our place after taking Ryder out for a walk in his pram with Briohny whilst Deb took Dacry for a run. Ran down to Plumpton Rd, then into Kooringal Rd and picked up the new cycle path that council is building and followed that to Vincent Rd. Then up the hills to home. The path cycle path will likely be appreciated by Trail Marathoners later in the year as part of it replaces a section on uneven grass running and also means runners will be well away from Kooringal Rd traffic.

Running 25:40 [4] 4.14 km (6:12 / km) +73m 5:42 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 13

Afternoon run with Briohny from her place. A steep climb up onto Tatton ridge and then along the top before dropping back down and looping back, completing about 3.3km and then we stopped. Turns out this was just a warm up run as Briohny announced we were going to do some hill intervals!

Completed 5 x 100m with 15m climb and was quite pleased with how I went. Didn't take any splits though.

We met Darcy's little sister (or so she looked). A 6-8 month old chocolate labby named Zoe (name tag) running around the hill. She even did the first hill int with us!

Running 47:49 [3] 9.4 km (5:05 / km) +77m 4:53 / km
shoes: Salomon Trail

Late morning run in cool conditions. Started at Lake Albert school and ran thru Rawlings Pk to Brunskill Rd then back and up past the horse paddock and back to the school. Continued on down to the Lake and around the southern end and out to PlumptonRd past the golf course and into Tatton to Briohny's place.

Deb had taken Darcy for a run and we had planned to meet back at Briohny's lpace but a some mis-communication meant she had gone home so had to ring her up to come and get me as there was no way I was running home!

Deb and I took Darcy for a run in Rawlings Park. It was raining lightly and quite cold but D man loved it, running madly all over the place! Council have finally resurfaced the track and taken out most of the bumps caused by 2 floods but they must have done it today as it was quite "sticky". Came to grief when looking over my shoulder to see where the dog had gone just as I hit a muddy spot, slipped and hit the deck!

Was glad I wore my 2011 Scottish 6 Days bargain buy 5 pound (no symbol!) Ron Hill long sleeve running shirt as it was really warm and also seemed to keep me quite dry! Forgot my watch so time a rough estimate from Deb's watch (we didn't run together for long) and rough distance by Google Earth!

Running 37:01 [3] 7.0 km (5:17 / km) +26m 5:11 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 13

Afternoon run around the Lake with an extension out to Plumpton Rd around the Golf Club to get a little more distance. Got back to the car and only needed 80m (Garmin) to get to 7km so kept going that little bit further!

Orienteering race (Club event) 1:02:19 [4] *** 7.05 km (8:50 / km) +213m 7:41 / km
spiked:6/7c shoes: Salomon Trail

Club event at Livingstone. First time on 1:15000 for a while and took a little while to adjust. No major issues but opted to avoid the steep climb on a couple of legs. Went a bit high on 6 and lost a minute or two. Really nice in the forest and a great turnout today with several newcomers which is a positive for the club. Distance by Garmin, course distance was 5.6km.

Running race (Road Runners at CSU) 24:53 [3] 4.93 km (5:03 / km) +73m 4:42 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 13

First Roadies in about 6 weeks. Out at CSU so a hilly course! Only did the short. Took it pretty steady and was pleased with my pace up the hill. Backed off the last 500m or so as hammy started to get a bit tight.

Cycling 50:30 [3] 16.81 km (3:00 / km) +160m 2:52 / km

Afternoon ride from home down to Kooringal Rd then down to the levee bank and along the river. Went all the way to Wiradjiri Bridge then headed along Travers St and picked up the bike path around the Racecourse and onto Moorong St. Used a semi trailer as "shelter" on the busy Sturt Hwy roundabout (I figured any cars would have to go through the semi to hit me!) and onto Pearson St with the afternoon traffic up to the hump bridge.

Turned onto Urana St and headed east to Baden Powell Drive and the steep climb up Willan's Hill. Halfway up turned off onto the single track and battled up to the top. Back out onto the bitumen for a very fast descent to Lake Rd and then through Kooringal and back home.

Running 32:54 [3] 6.01 km (5:29 / km) +23m 5:23 / km
shoes: Salomon Trail

Afternoon run with Deb, Briohny and Darcy. My first run with Bri since she had Ryder:-) Ran in Rawlings Park so Darcy could be off leash. My right hammy is a bit tight after 3 races on the weekend.

Orienteering race (SL 5 (Long)) 58:33 [5] **** 7.94 km (7:22 / km) +115m 6:52 / km
spiked:7/9c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

Another good run making it 3 for the weekend! Deb and I both managed 3 placing, with a win each, out of 3 events!

A much improved run on this area than at QBIII a couple of years ago with only a minor mistake at #1 then another at #6 when I found #7 first (about 150m - I actually felt I was too far right when running but didn't correct enough). Those errors plus my lack of fitness (on the long track leg to #2 especially) meant I was 2 minutes behind James in 2nd place but still very happy with the result today and overall for the weekend. Distance is by my Garmin, course distance was 6.3km.

A great weekand of Orienteering organised by the Newcastle club: good maps, great courses and excellent organisation - thanks again for the early starts today to allow us to get away home! Well done and thanks.

Running race (SL 3 (Sprint)) 18:24 [5] **** 3.19 km (5:46 / km) +48m 5:21 / km
spiked:18/19c shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 13

Sprint at Newcastle Uni. Really good area and great course. Very happy with my run for 3rd place although may have been a couple of slightly faster route choices. Distance is by Garmin, map distance 2.3km.
2 PM

Orienteering race (SL 4 (Middle)) 40:12 [5] **** 5.88 km (6:50 / km) +74m 6:26 / km
spiked:16/19c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

A new area and another good course. A good run too with the exception of #12 where I lost probably 3 minutes after doing a 90 degree error out of the drinks/spectator control. A couple of other minor errors at 5 and 8 but ended up deadheating for 1st with James Lithgow.

Running 26:30 [3] 5.3 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 28

Short afternoon run in Griffith. Started with a 1km warm up then ran the next 4km at tempo pace before 300m cool down (too short I know!)

Running 30:00 [3] 5.7 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 28

Morning run in the Murray Nature Park (formerly Deniliquin State Forest). Found it hard going this morning but managed a reasonable run.

Orienteering race (ACT Long Champs) 1:13:00 [4] 4.6 km (15:52 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

Disappointing effort today after a good race yesterday. Whipped around the first 6 (and was actually leading at that stage) but missed 7 badly and had to relocate off the track, losing about 10 minutes. Picked up the pace on the way to 8 to try and make up time but didn't really have a plan and lost my way going up the gully. Should have used the saddle at the top but got totally frustrated in the thick stuff. Eventually decided to cut my losses and jog/walked/struggled down the big gully, eventually finding 9 but then walked back to the finish.

Was pleased for Deb who ran the same course on W50s today and stuck it out to finish 2nd just a couple of minutes behind the winner.

Orienteering race (ACT Middle Dist Champs) 32:50 [5] *** 4.5 km (7:18 / km) +95m 6:36 / km
spiked:16/16c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

First serious Orienteering race of the year. Nice pine forest and open erosion country and was really happy with navigation with no errors to speak of. Also quite surprised with my fitness as my training has been limited to say the least over the last couple of weeks. Garmin distance 4.8km so obviously ran pretty straight. Will be tougher tomorrow for the Long Champs!
