Note

Golf: 2 person Ambrose. Partner (7 handicapper) and I combined quite well but neither of us could not get a putt to drop! We hit 14 greens in regulation but didn't make a single birdie. Ended up with 4 over off the stick and with our handicap of just 5.5, we were well out of it, with the winners on 60.25. Still a great day to be on the course, with mild temps and very little wind.

Orienteering race (Summer Series #2) 43:58 [4] 7.88 km (5:35 / km) +29m 5:29 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 white/gold

Summer Series at Rawlings Park. Strong gusty winds and a temperature in the low 30's made for not too pleasant running but still enjoyed the course. Pretty much did an outside loop, picking up all the higher scoring controls and missing some lower ones in the middle of the map. Nice variety here with park running, single track and street running. A good turn up today, with a number of new faces.

Running 39:10 [3] 7.35 km (5:20 / km) +42m 5:11 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 2nd pair w

Morning run from my hotel in Sydney, through Ultimo, Pyrmont and Darling Harbour. A nice run, especially around the harbour but can't say I enjoy the humidity down here!

Running (Long) 1:05:03 [3] 11.51 km (5:39 / km) +62m 5:30 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 white/gold

Morning run from Briohny's house down past the golf club and then along the southern end of the Lake (where I met Briohny coming the other way on her run) and into Rawlings Park. Here I met Deb who had dropped me at Briohny's and picked up Darcy the dog (a fair swap??) and Darcy on their run. Headed out to Brunskill Rd and then home to our place via Vincent and Kooringal Rds and the cemetery and powerline track.

Felt good most of the way but was regretting not having something to eat before I left home.

Note

Comp golf: stroke event and a day of missed chances. Cruelled by a quadruple on the 5th and a triple on the 13th but still finished only 6 over at net 78 so some good results elsewhere. Trying a stronger grip and when it worked it was great but when it didn't....

Orienteering race (Summer Series #1) 40:54 [5] 7.16 km (5:43 / km) +97m 5:21 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 white/gold

First Waggaroos Summer Series street and park event on the Hilltop map. And plenty of hills to be had too! I managed to get all but 4 of 23 well dispersed controls and probably could have got a couple more as poor route planning saw me finish past my first two controls! I was also back with more than 4 minutes to spare. Enjoyed the run despite the temperature being around 30C mark.

Running 30:22 [3] 5.75 km (5:17 / km) +40m 5:06 / km

Morning run, usual powerline, cemetery, bikeway run to Marshall's Ck bridge and back.

7 AM

Running (Long) 1:00:50 [3] 11.01 km (5:32 / km) +62m 5:22 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 white/gold

Nice morning run with Briohny from her place down to the Lake and then out through Rawlings Park to Mitchell road, then back again. We walked the last bit as both were a bit sore.
1 PM

Orienteering (Map check) 2:00:00 [1]

Spent 2 hours at Lake Albert and Rawlings Park updating the street/park map.

Saturday Nov 16, 2013 #

Note

Club golf Stableford. An untidy 38pts with some highs (birdie and 6 pars) and lows (out of bounds from a green side bunker I'd reached in 2 on a par 5!). Still some work to do but handicap moving in the right direction again.

Orienteering race (Street O) 39:58 [4] 6.7 km (5:58 / km) +60m 5:43 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 white/gold

In Albury for work so went to AWOCs Street O out at Thurgoona. Nice area and a pretty good map. Variation on Score format requiring a certain number of controls for long, medium and short courses. I did the long which meant 20 out of a possible 26 controls. A few dodgy control descriptions/circles plus some construction work but good use of the areas many parks and laneways. Enjoyed the run in cool conditions.

Running (Road Runners) 44:15 [3] 8.21 km (5:23 / km) +7m 5:22 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 white/gold

My first Roadies outing since the end of August. 2 laps of a flat track along the levee and single track from the Tourism Info Centre out past Marshalls Ck bridge and back. Ran with Briohny most of the way and we chatted a bit with other runners as well.

Running 32:10 [3] 5.7 km (5:38 / km) +36m 5:28 / km

Morning run, usual route out the back gate. Turned around at Marshall's Creek bridge. Already warm and humid at 6:30am.

5 PM

Running 36:18 [3] 7.0 km (5:11 / km) +32m 5:04 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 white/gold

A lap of the Lake plus a side loop out to Plumpton Rd whilst Deb checked control sites for our first Summer Series event in 2 weeks time. Quite warm this afternoon but run was good.

Sunday Nov 3, 2013 #

8 AM

Running 1:08:45 [3] 12.5 km (5:30 / km) +49m 5:24 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 white/gold

Out the back gate, powerline track and then the cycle/walking track to the river. Then a mix of single track and levee past the beach and almost to the old Hampden Bridge. Turned around and back the opposite direction.

Longest run I've done in a very long time (pre overseas) and felt quite good the whole way (a couple of water stops helped).

Note

Comp golf: stableford was a nice change. Frustrating front nine with several missed chances but managed 17pts. Started the back with 3 pars, a birdie and 2 bogies in the first 6 and was well placed for a very good score but disappointed with just 3 points in the last 3 for 20 and 37 total. Better than last weekend but still much room for improvement.
