Running race 36:06 [4] 6.6 km (5:28 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

Final Road Runners for the year. Ran with Briohny at a steady, even pace. Course had changed since last week due to earthworks and tree removal on the North Wagga flats. Talked just about the whole way: wedding stuff, house painting, Christmas, work, etc, which was nice.

Cycling 45:50 [3] 14.0 km (3:16 / km)

Same ride as Wednesday but reversed the loop through Rawlings Park. Much cooler today but a little humid after the storms and rain last night.

Cycling 46:00 [3] 14.0 km (3:17 / km)

Afternoon ride after work. 2 days away again this week with lots of time sitting in the car and in meetings!

Suddenly hot again after a couple of nice cool days.

Orienteering race 1:07:35 [3] 5.5 km (12:17 / km)
shoes: Helly Hansen Trailcutter

Final bush event for the year, at Connorton. Talk about a team event: Briohny set (but was in Melbourne this weekend), Fel, Julian (visiting for a wedding) and Deb put the controls out (last weekend) and John Oliver manned the finish! A shower of rain just before the start cooled things off until the sun came out and then it got a bit sticky.

Took it very slow and steady, due to lack of fitness, concentrating on navigation skills. Slight error at 2 and then misread the bare rock at 10, loosing probably 3-4 minutes. Nice course, with some good technical legs but very little climb which was great. Hammy played up a little so no more runs for a few days.

Running race 31:36 [3] 6.0 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

Road Runners Wagga Beach - North Wagga Flats and return. My first appearance at Roadies since August, due to Orienteering, injury, and golf!

A very steady run in warm and humid conditions. Planned on doing the short but missed the turn and ended up on the longer course - only 1.4km extra. On physio's instructions, I upped the pace for 500-600 metres a couple of times. Hammy a bit sore at the finish but not too bad. Iced it when I got home.

Morning run in Deniliquin State Forest. Surprisingly cool this morning, very pleasant for running. Hammy good.

Note

Golf: Club Champs Rd 4. Much improved on yesterday: parred the front 9 with 2 birdies, 2 bogies and 5 pars for 36 (first time ever in competition). Back 9 was not so good with just a couple of pars in 44, and missed a couple of short putts. 80 off the stick for a net 64 to win today's B grade. Also the best score for the day in any grade.

Note

Golf: Club Champs Rd 3. Started with a triple bogie 7 on the first but then managed 6 pars in remaining 8 on the front to finish with 42. Back was not so good with just 2 pars for 46. 88 off the stick, net 72 so played to 16 handicap.

Cycling 28:00 [3] 5.5 mi (5:05 / mi)

Rode in to work to pick up the car that I am taking away on Monday. Hard work along the spine of Willan's Hill. Too steep in a couple of spots for fitness (up) and MTB skills (down), so whimped it and got off and walked!!

Note

Guess its time to break the news: I am "Movembering" this year!

Now those who know me will say: "wait a minute, you already have a Mo". Well, it was ceremoniously removed on 31st October (much to Deb's dislike!) and I have started all over again! Proof can be found on my donation page (see below) where there is an after-shave photo (stop laughing!!). I will post some more photos as the month continues.

Movember is a lot of fun (there are 5 guys here at work in a team but also in competition with each other!) but it also has a serious side and that is the promotion, support and awareness of Prostate Cancer in particular and men's health in general.

If you would like to sponsor my Mo, there are a couple of options available:

Click this link:

http://au.movember.com/mospace/195735

and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account or

Send a cheque payable to ‘Movember Foundation’, quoting my Registration Number 195735 and post it to:

Movember Foundation, PO Box 292, Prahran, VIC, 3181

Don't forget that all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Thanks!!

Cycling 53:00 [3] 18.3 km (2:54 / km)

A very hot afternoon for a ride (~38C) but had to get out and do a bit. A longer loop, just an extension of the usual Lake, Rawlings, Mitchell Rd, Rawlings, Lake route, taking in Sycamore Rd and the McGarva's old haunt in Alder Rd.

Not surprisingly given the conditions, very few people out but a couple of guys were running around the lake and looking decidedly the worst for it!

Orienteering 40:00 [3] *** 4.4 km (9:05 / km) +75m 8:23 / km
shoes: Helly Hansen Trailcutter

Went to Sydney this weekend for a family birthday function, so Deb and I decided to have a run at Belanglo on Sunday on the way home. Found an old M35AS course from 2001 to use.

Considering my recent injury and lack of running, I wasn't going for speed, just concentrating on map reading and navigation, both of which were pretty good considering it was at 1:15000. Short on the 1st one as I dived off the road too soon so as to avoid being run over by a pack of motorbikers and Deb ran past me then. Caught her again at the 2nd and we ran together until 5 where she cut the course short and headed to 9. I also cut it short but went to 8 first, running past a group of Army cadets - it was a bit crowded out there today!

10+ year old map has held up well apart from some thicker green around some gullies and rockfaces, and the new pine that has been planted (and is now 7-8 metres tall) in a couple of compartments in the last 8 years.

Running 28:30 [2] 4.9 km (5:49 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 10

Good to be finally back running, although very slow and easy. Physio this morning said I should be OK to start again so ran out to the Boat Club and return from home after work. No major problems apart from the heat and the flies:-)
