Orienteering race (Waggaroos Summer Series#8) 42:44 [4] ** 6.82 km (6:16 / km) +5m 6:14 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 15 yellow

Nice event around the centre of town and along the river. A few forced waits due to Thursday night shopping traffic in the centre of town. Felt a bit laboured in my breathing but seemed to run OK apart from that. Did a loop around the outside of the course picking up most of the higher value controls.

Peg race on the Magenta map at Chiltern. Good fun and managed 5 pegs from a possible 6 (too slow in to the 2nd control after the first peg penalty leg). Helped a few of our younger members with their nav and map reading as we went along. Lots of spider webs in the forest!!

Note

Couple of rest days after visit to the Doc. Recommended I take it easy for a bit. Means I have changed plans for Orange next weekend and will now do the 10km rather than the Half.

Running 1:06:11 [3] 12.07 km (5:29 / km) +66m 5:20 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 15 yellow

Morning run along the Yarra from hotel in Melbourne and then back. Nice and cool but still humid. Amazing number of people running, rowing and especially cycling (mostly commuting). Felt pretty good most of the way but still doubting my capacity to run a half in less than 2 weeks! Disappointed there were no drinking fountains or taps beyond Hoddle Street bridge as I hadn't brought my water bottle with me.

Running 45:59 [3] 8.21 km (5:36 / km) +14m 5:33 / km

Running 50:11 [3] 8.8 km (5:42 / km) +31m 5:36 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 15 white/blue

Morning effort from home down to the river and back. As I came out of the cemetery, two other runners were passing. Whilst I didn't actually join them, I used them as motivation to keep a steady pace until I turned around near the Tourist Info Centre. Humid again and warm - but no hills:-)

Running (Long and hills) 1:47:19 [3] 16.63 km (6:27 / km) +298m 5:55 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 15 yellow

First time ever with the Sunday morning crew and they made me suffer for waiting all these years! Needed to do something long with the half only 3 weeks away but wasn't ready for the hills! Enjoyed it in a way as it was good to run with a large group, lots of talk (except on the hills!) and encouragement. Started and finished at the Boat Club. Tried to go a bit further with Briohny (aim was 19-20) but I was feeling not the best and we turned back after about 500m. I went to the car and Briohny ran home.

Running 42:30 [3] 7.44 km (5:43 / km) +39m 5:34 / km

Running (Intervals) 26:06 [4] 3.92 km (6:40 / km) +48m 6:17 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 15 white/blue

Warm up/down plus short intervals sessions on the powerline track near the cemetery. Haven't done any of these for a long while and it showed. Didn't bother keeping accurate times but was pretty slow although did feel OK afterwards.

Cycling 59:49 [3] 20.58 km (2:54 / km) +120m 2:49 / km

7 AM

Running (Longish!) 1:10:34 [3] 12.01 km (5:53 / km) +28m 5:49 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 15 yellow

Solo run from home down to the river and along to the site of the old Hampden Bridge and back. Struggled at times and was pretty slow, still feeling not quite right. Maybe just need to run with others to push me along a bit more.
