Running (Waggaroos Street Series) 42:13 [4] 7.15 km (5:54 / km) +65m 5:39 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 2nd pair w

Street and park event in Kooringal. Warm again tonight and lots of hills too. No chance of getting them all this week so opted for the hills as I though they might do me some good! Even ran past the front of our house. Reasonably happy with run although didn't push as hard as last week and was back 2:30 early.

Running 41:53 [3] 6.9 km (6:04 / km)

Morning run in Deniliquin Forest (National Park). An otherwise enjoyable run spoilt somewhat by an angry tummy....

Orienteering 15:00 [3]
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

Collected 3 controls after riding Briohny's mountain bike down the track about 500m. Hardly worth logging apart from noting the incident that reminded me why I don't wear hats when bush Orienteering! I got flattened by a low tree branch that I just didn't see over the peak of the hat whilst running downhill back to the bike! Nice little bump on the top of my head and a bit dazed. Back to the sweat bands from now on.

Orienteering (Club training weekend) 1:30:00 [3] **** 3.5 km (25:43 / km)

Putting out controls at Barambogie for some granite exercises I set for the training weekend.

Orienteering (Club training weekend) 23:00 [3] *** 3.2 km (7:11 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 350

Contour training execise on the Magenta map near Chiltern. A very technical part of the map with masses of gullies and watercourses. I shadowed a first time bush runner (his first O run ever was only last Thursday at our Street event) and he did exceptionally well, reading the map comfortably for most legs, with just enthusiasm leading to a couple of overrun errors. He is young and fit and I struggled physically to keep up but it probably did me good!
9 PM

Orienteering race (Night O) 20:25 [3] 3.1 km (6:35 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 2nd pair w

Fun night O event set by Deb around the Chiltern caravan park and adjoining Lake. We ran it as a pairs event with both partners completing 2 loops and then combining the times.

I was happy with my run, maybe 4th or 5th fastest individually (not sure about team result!) with only a silly map reading mistake on the 2nd loop, not seeing a gap in a fence and having to double back, probably loosing close to a minute.

Orienteering race (Street O) 43:31 [5] 7.54 km (5:46 / km) +98m 5:25 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 2nd pair w

Street event from Briohny's house in Tatton. Weather much kinder and I had a crack at getting all controls. Managed it with about 70 seconds to spare so pleased with that. Running was much better today as I pushed myself harder although I still got smashed by the winner, Geoff, who also got the lot but was 6:30 faster!!

Running 34:11 [3] 6.0 km (5:42 / km) +88m 5:18 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 2nd pair w

Afternoon run in Young after a road trip to West Wyalong and Temora. Warm, windy and a few hills but enjoyed the run. A short detour into the Showgrounds as I spied a tap but they turned off the water!!

Cycling 47:58 [3] 15.44 km (3:06 / km) +54m 3:03 / km

Afternoon ride from home down to the river and along the single track to (the soon to be demolished!) Hampton Bridge and then back again. Good fun on the single track although some parts are a bit overgrown.

Running (Road Runners) 36:24 [3] 6.54 km (5:34 / km) +6m 5:33 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 white/gold

Roadies in the rain!! A very pleasant change and the first time I've run in the rain, I think, since World Masters in Italy last August!

Ran the medium course today and, although it was raining, it was still quite warm and I am still unfit and slow!. Runner turnout down significantly on last week.

Morning run in a very smokey Albury. Short run down to the river and back to the motel. A little cooler but very humid again.

Running 31:43 [3] 5.5 km (5:46 / km) +36m 5:35 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 2nd pair w

Morning run from home. Usual route out the back. Much cooler to start today, especially in the hollows down on the powerline track. Garmin was playing up at the start so distance is manually adjusted!

Running 44:36 [3] 8.01 km (5:34 / km) +29m 5:28 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 2nd pair w

Deb and I both did a lap of Lake Burley Griffin central basin from our hotel in Civic. I threw in a lap of the Carillon Island and a bit extra at the end to round out 8 kms. Nice and cool at the start but warming up by the end.

Roadies at the beach. Short course again today as Deb and I were heading to Canberra for the weekend. About 45 secs faster than last week so that was pleasing.

Running 31:45 [3] 5.5 km (5:46 / km) +25m 5:39 / km

Running 35:17 [3] 6.02 km (5:52 / km) +27m 5:44 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 2nd pair w

Morning run with Briohny, Deb and Darcy the dog in Rawlings Park. Darcy ran with Briohny and I until he got too tired and then he stayed with Deb on her shorter run. Nice to run with Briohny again and have a chat about things. Knee was OK and my breathing issues seem to have just about gone.

Running race (Road Runners) 19:34 [3] 3.56 km (5:30 / km) +2m 5:29 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Nimbus 14 2nd pair w

Ventured down to the Beach for Road Runners to test out my knee. Only did the short course, took it very steady and had an elastic support on the knee but came through OK.

Big turn out for the first "official" run of the year (even though we've run right through December and January!) Was billed as the mystery course, the mystery being what was the difference between this month's and January's course: the answer being very little!
