Bimbler's Bluff 50k in Guilford
We decided to do another long race to take advantage of being in decent long distance shape. This turned out to be more like 52k, which is about 6 miles longer than the trail marathon. The 6 miles made it much harder so much of the last 10 miles was fairly unpleasant. I walked much of the last 5 miles. Had trouble with my stomach so I never felt like eating although I did consume some food. That probably didn't help my energy level.
The race was good though. Probably a bit less rolling overall than Nipmuck but there was one very steep, long climb to the bluff in the middle, along a cliff edge and then gradually down. Lots more double track than Nipmuck but virtually no road. The course was sort of a lollipop starting at the bottom/south. The out and back stem was about 9 miles with about 13 miles for the loop.
Rick finished in about 6:50:00.
