Orienteering (Course Setting) 1:00:00 [1] 1.0 mi (1:00:01 / mi)
(injured)

I put out the last 3 course controls, including the Go control and one after a road crossing. It was nice to get this all done. Finally, I walked people from a remote bus drop to the start. I was happy that I was able to walk up the road so well--best in a few days. I guess I rose to the occasion.

The Ultralong race itself was fun to see happening. The weather was not so great but not bad either. It never got sunny but never got to freezing either. The worst was that busses which were to take people to the start were late--I heard a rumor of one bus getting a flat tire. The start was delayed 18 minutes. Afterward, it went off almost without a hitch. People did come in to the food stop from an unexpected direction. I guess a control that I had eliminated toward the end of making changes was the culprit. We rushed too much toward the end, still waiting for map changes to get incorporated so we had less time to focus on other stuff. Another scare occurred well after most had come in, the course was closed, and it was about to rain. Sarah Berman was nowhere to be seen for a while. She was eventually found before searchers went out, trying to finish-up the Brown course. She was just moving slowly.
