Hiking (Foot) 2:00:00 [1] 1.0 mi (2:00:02 / mi)
slept:7.0

Dunnottar, Scotland, United Kingdom. Peggy Max and I explored the Dunnottar Castle ruins. It was bright and sunny. The scenery was awesome. It's not every day that one sees a castle on a huge rock overlooking the ocean. We explored the many buildings, including a dungeon used where religious/political differences prompted rebellion. The fate of those persecuted was pretty horrible. It made the castle all the more curious. We also dropped down to a beach below the castle exploring tidal pools. We saw a hydra open-up.

Orienteering (Foot) 1:06:00 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (10:00 @2) + (26:00 @3) 3.0 mi (22:00 / mi)

Findhorn, Scotland, United Kingdom. I went out on a model map hitting most of the controls that I tried for pretty well in the first 26 minutes. The controls were 6 inch flags that were equally as tall above the sand. My feet hurt and my lack of recent physical training showed. Switching with Peggy, I then went with Max as we navigated to a few places. One control that we went to would have been right for yellow or orange though I'm sure it was mishung. After the training, we went to our hotel near Nairn.

Hiking (Foot) 1:30:00 [1] 1.0 mi (1:30:01 / mi)
slept:4.0

Gasglow, Scotland, United Kingdom. From Finnieston Quay, to the Science Museum, then to Kelvingrove Park, then to Finnieston Quay. We had a very jet lagged walk about town. The science museum was similar to most that we'd taken Max to before but the park was different. It had a college campus feel with sunbathers in one area but mothers and small children in another. We hung out near a very nice concrete skateboard area but most teens and sub-teens there were on scooters and bmx bikes. It was all unsupervised. Three younger kids lay down on the edge of a half-pipe-like drop while a cyclist rode in and out of the pipe, and over the kids. Another on in-line skates went in and out by himself backwards, and on his exit he'd do either a full twist or a complete backflip. Only one kid we saw doing acrobatics came down badly; he limped away appearing to try not to show his pain. Max spent time on a super slide and quickly made friends. Finnieston Quay ended about at a nice old round building. Another was on the other side of the River Clyde. We found out while eating dinner in one that both were portals to a tunnel under the river that once was used for regular travel. Horses and buggies were lowered by rope. Travel is a lot of fun and opens the mind.

Note
slept:4.0 weight:177.5lbs

I did a lot of errands including lawn mowing, gardening, and finally installing a trailer hitch on Peggy's car so that she could have a bike rack. I got stung twice (bee?) while mowing. The hitch was a lot of work since I didn't have a way to work under the car very easily, and one part really could have used a second pair of hands. I picked up Max and rushed my trip packing. In the process it looks like I somehow left a few items at home. No time to run today. My tendons feel sore but it seems from lack of use.
