Calisthenics (General) 2:00 [3]
slept:6.5 weight:170lbs

45 situps. I woke up a little late and we did a lot of errands. I had a nap in the afternoon and never got around to working out. I did however make a lot of drafting fixes to my Bethesa map.

Bicycling (Commute) 36:42 intensity: (18:42 @3) + (18:00 @4) 12.1 mi (3:02 / mi)
slept:5.0 weight:169.5lbs

From Northfield Rd., Bethesda, MD, to Arlington Rd. to 12th & C St. SW, Washington, D.C. It was about 53F and I rode my road bike. I got some help after Fletcher's Boathouse. Overall, I felt tired and strained to keep up the pace. I did slow it down the last couple of miles after Georgetown.
5 PM

Bicycling (Commute) 40:17 intensity: (30:17 @3) + (10:00 @4) 11.9 mi (3:23 / mi)

From 12th & C St. SW, Washington, D.C. to Northfield Rd., Bethesda, MD. It was a nice sunny day today and rather pleasant going home. At first, it felt like I might have had a tailwind but that wasn't the case. I was just moving well. It didn't last and by Georgetown, I slowed a little; keeping a good pace. I geared down going up the hill.

Bicycling (Commute) 8:30 [3] 1.5 mi (5:40 / mi)
slept:5.75 weight:171lbs

From Northfield Rd., Bethesda, MD, to Arlington Rd. with Max on his trail-a-bike, then to the Bethesda Metro Station.
6 PM

Bicycling (Commute) 8:45 [3] 1.5 mi (5:50 / mi)

From the Bethesda Metro Station, to Arlington Rd. to pickup Max's trail-a-bike then to Northfield Rd. I left too late to run on the way home.
10 PM

Running 29:57 intensity: (24:00 @3) + (5:57 @4) 4.06 mi (7:23 / mi)
slept:5.75 weight:171lbs

From Northfield Rd., Greenwich Park, to Old Georgetown Rd. to Beech Dr. to to Singleton Dr. to Bulls Run Pkwy., to the trail along the school to Bradmore Dr. to Folkstone Rd. to Hartsdale Ave. to Heampstead Ave. to McKinley St. to Garfield St., to Roosevelt St., to the trail at Jefferson St. to Northfield Rd. It was much cooler than late July when I think I ran this last. However I was more tired from last weekend and lacked speed/spring. I netted about a minute faster. My endurance felt good.

Bicycling (Commute) 42:00 intensity: (36:00 @3) + (6:00 @4) 12.3 mi (3:25 / mi)
slept:6.2 weight:171.5lbs

From Northfield Rd., Bethesda, MD, to Arlington Rd. with Max on his trail-a-bike, then to 12th & C St. SW, Washington, D.C. It was about 56F starting out and I wore long sleeves for the first time this year. The winds were calm. It had been a long while since I commuted all they way downtown so I felt awkward and in poorer shape. Some of it was still recovering from the Highlander but I also rode my commuter bike which is much slower. It was Max's National walk/bike/carpool to school day or something to that effect. I got passed at Fletcher's Boathouse but I caught back up with the guy before Georgetown. Lots of cranes were dismantling the Solar Decathlon competition houses along the Tidal Basin.
6 PM

Bicycling (Commute) 47:30 intensity: (5:00 @2) + (42:30 @3) 12.3 mi (3:52 / mi)

From 12th & C St. SW, Washington, D.C. to Arlington Rd. to pickup Max's trail-a-bike, a little loop ther, then to Northfield Rd., Bethesda, MD. I had a slight headwind and it was 75F. Once again, I just made it out of the building before getting my bike locked into the courtyard. I felt fortunate that the headwinds that I'd seen when walking with Mark Mace at lunchtime, had died down. I took off well but quickly settled into a slower pace than I had been riding. There was some construction crew traffic on Ohio Dr. again where dismantling of the Solar Decathlon continued. I rode a steady pace and passed people slowly, the whole way to Falls Rd. Hand timing because my bike computer wasn't working, I was about 42:30 to Arlington Rd. My timing was such that I got to see the end of Max's soccer practice after picking-up his trail-a-bike. It was getting dark for the last part which I mostly took easy.

Bicycling (Commute) 8:30 [3] 1.5 mi (5:40 / mi)
slept:6.2 weight:172lbs

From Northfield Rd., Bethesda, MD, to Arlington Rd. with Max on his trail-a-bike, then to the Bethesda Metro Station. Starting, I felt fine but after going most of the way up the initial hill, I felt tired fast. The was a residual effect from running the Hudson Highlander. I was fine going up the next hill.
7 PM

Bicycling (Commute) 8:15 [3] 1.5 mi (5:30 / mi)

From the Bethesda Metro Station, to Arlington Rd. to pickup Max's trail-a-bike then to Northfield Rd. I left too late to run on the way home.

Calisthenics (General) 2:00 [3]
slept:6.5 weight:171.5lbs (rest day)

45 situps. It was a busy day with no time for much else. I was appropriately sore in places from the Highlander yesterday with no real health issues.

Orienteering race (Foot) 4:35:50 intensity: (35:50 @2) + (2:00:00 @3) + (2:00:00 @4) 26.2 km (10:32 / km) +450m 9:42 / km

HVO: Hudson Highlander. Lots of fun running and some somewhat intimidating technical parts of the course. I ran most of 19.56 miles. This was a pretty good run for me despite errors on some controls before the last sprint loop, and cramping-up on the last loop for a while. More on this later...
