Running (Street & Trail) 1:14:12 [3] 9.85 mi (7:32 / mi)
slept:5.75 weight:173lbs

From Rosedale Ave. Pearl St. to the Georgetown Branch Trail to 46th St. to Leeland St. to Oakridge Ave. to Maple Ave. to Bradley Ln., to Brookville Rd. to Shepherd St. to Cummings Ln. to Beech St., to Oregon Ave. to the Pinehurst Trail to Beach Dr. to the Rock Creek Trail at the DC/MD border, to Freyman Dr. to the Old Georgetown Branch Trail to Kentbury Dr. to Rosedale Ave.

It was raining out and I was pretty tired starting out from staying up late putting my PC together. I often do a version of this run in the spring. The Chevy Chase neighborhoods on the way to Rock Creek Park are nice though I saw some houses squaring off against each other with placards in the yards supporting and opposing a move to incorporate. The spring flowers and shrubs, what I came to run through, were the same on both sides. In Rock Creek Park along Pinehurst Branch, despite the plentiful rains in the last 24 hours, the creek was pretty dry. There were many signs posted for a missing dog which I couldn't help but wonder if a coyote may have gotten. Rock Creek was very pretty with dogwood blooms hanging over the water and rocks.

This marks the first time since we got Max February 27th, that neither I nor Peggy was watching him. Peggy's parents were with him at our house. Later, they reported that when we left, ingestion of a Cherrio quickly replaced Max's angst of losing us. It must have worn off because when I got back, he was fairly clingy like my wet shirt.

Calisthenics (General) 2:00 [3]
slept:6.5 weight:172.5lbs

45 situps. We all went out to eat after I got home from work and I used the rest of the time to put my new PC together.

Bicycling (Commute) 38:29 [3] 11.63 mi (3:19 / mi)
slept:6.5 weight:170lbs

Rosedale Ave., Bethesda, MD to C St., SW, Washington, DC. It was 52 F. I felt okay and had a partial tailwind. I was doing 19-20 mph on the flats.

Bicycling (Commute) 42:55 [3] 11.33 mi (3:47 / mi)

From C. St. SW, Washington, D.C. to Rosedale Ave., Bethesda, MD. My legs were feeling tired before starting, the headwinds felt stronger than Tuesday and the traffic was about the same so I was surprised to find that I came in faster again.

Running (Street & Trail) 24:38 [3] 3.59 mi (6:52 / mi)
slept:4.0 weight:172lbs

From Rosedale Ave., Battery La. to Old Georgetown Rd. via Keystone La. to W. Cedar La. to Rockville Pike to Jones Bridge Rd. to Maryland Ave. to Rosedale Ave. Peggy's parent's arrived today (first visit w/Max) so I didn't get out to run until around 10:30pm. I didn't want to miss the nice 64 F night. I felt okay until the last 1.1 miles, feeling the desserts this last week and lack of sleep.

Bicycling (Commute) 39:01 [3] 11.56 mi (3:23 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:173lbs

Rosedale Ave., Bethesda, MD to C St., SW, Washington, DC. It was 47 F. With long tops and bottoms and gloves it felt great. I think the unusual winds from the NE were more favorable than not. Peggy's birthday cake sure is heavy.

Bicycling (Commute) 44:16 [3] 11.33 mi (3:54 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:173lbs

From C. St. SW, Washington, D.C. to Rosedale Ave., Bethesda, MD. Like last week, combinations of being out-of-shape, pedestrian traffic and headwinds (from the NW now) kept me slow but I felt a bit stronger and was faster. It was beautiful out; about 68 F.

Running (Babyjogger) 40:58 [3] 5.62 mi (7:17 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:172.5lbs

From Rosedale Ave., Maple Ave. to Lynbrook Dr. to Kentbury Way to the Old Georgetown Branch Trail to Grubb Rd./Terrace Dr. to East West Hwy, to the Rock Creek Trail to the Old Georgetown Branch Trail via Susanna La., to Kentbury Way to Lynbrook Dr. to Maple Ave. to Rosedale Ave. I got home from work at a decent time so I had time for a run with Max before dinner. Peggy started out with us too. It was nice, in the mid 60's F. I passed a few runners and got Max to keep his hat on. I did a very similar version of this run on 3/22, soon after getting over being sick but w/o the babyjogger. It turns out that I was faster today running and pushing Max.

Running (Babyjogger) 1:02:06 [3] 7.57 mi (8:12 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:173lbs

From Rosedale Ave., Maple Ave. to Kentucky Ave. to Pearl St. to the Capital Crescent Trail (CCT), to the Little Falls Trail, to Massachusetts Ave. to the CCT, to Pear St./Maryland Ave. to Rosedale Ave. A nice sleep makes me feel so much better. After mowing, Max and I gave his chariot a roll. It was a fairly perfect day; partly sunny 68 F with a slight breeze. Indecisive at first, I ended up going down the CCT since it would be smoother. Max got excited to see the many doggies being walked. I felt a little guilty not stopping at at playground just off the trail near Dorset Ave. but felt if I stopped, I'd need to do a lot of walking to get back home. I passed a few runners with and without babyjoggers, finding it easy to go down the railroad grade. Rather than ask other babyjoggers "how old?" I'd ask "how heavy?" The reduced arm movement pushing the babyjogger translated to some added ware or fatigue in the knees. The change in available half-mile splits on the CCT reflects both fatigue and the return uphill grade: 3:48, 3:46, 3:48, 3:39, 3:47, 4:05, 4:07, 4:04. At home, we finally petted a willing tolerant dog with a willing owner.
