Running (Babyjogger) 39:49 [3] 4.0 mi (9:57 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:168lbs (sick)

Rock Creek Park, MD; Ken Gar parking. My first real test run with Max in the baby jogger went okay. From Ken Gar we went down the trail to Mile Marker 5, turned around to Mile Marker 7 and back to the parking area. I felt pretty bad early on but got better. For a while after the turnaround, we paced a group of women runners ahead of us and picked up the pace. Then they turned off route. Peggy caught us soon after. I had to tie my shoe so she got ahead but we were gaining on her afterward. Returning Splits: 9:13, 8:52. Max was ready to be out after this. He got to swing and go down his first slide.

Hiking (Babyjogger) 25:00 [1] 1.25 mi (20:00 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:166lbs (sick)

From Rosedale Ave., MD Ave. to Chealsea Ln. N. to Lynnbrook Dr. to Kentbury Ave. to Newdale Rd., through Lyndbrook Park, to Maple Ave. to Md. Ave. to Rosedale Ave. After Max woke up and ate, we took advantage of the +70 F day to use the Babyjogger that Kristin and Andy Hall gave us. I only walked except for a few steps. It rolled smoothly. While passing through the park, we stopped at the playground. My strength continues to return.

Sick but eating a little again. Walked Max in a stroller around the block and that tired me out.

Orienteering (Foot) 43:38 [1] ** 2.3 km (18:58 / km) +55m 16:57 / km
slept:6.0 weight:169.5lbs (sick)

Greenbelt National Park, MD. Our decision was to get outside some today and we went to QOC's local meet. Max and I did the Yellow course together. He watched over my shoulder in a backpack. Though his eyes seemed closed, I'm sure he'd of shrieked if we started to make a mistake. Perhaps it was too easy for him. We did take some longer routes to avoid Greenbelt's all too common thorns and downed logs but some were unavoidable near controls.

Orienteering race (Foot) 52:44 [4] *** 5.6 km (9:25 / km) +165m 8:12 / km
spiked:12/14c (sick)

QOC at Greenbelt National Park. After Peggy ran her course, I went out. Like her, I did the Green course anticipating both a shortage of time and not feeling up to full strength. I hit things pretty good most of the way. Familiarity probably had some to do with that. I left a trail too early going to #8 and got on the wrong ridge with thick vegetation. Some white woods helped me recover but not before losing a couple of minutes. I lost some time going to #10 too by hitting a trail too low. I was pretty beat both doing this and afterward. Being sick had a lot to do with that and made me walk up many hills.
