Running (Trail) 40:30 [3] 5.56 mi (7:17 / mi)

PGRC Saturday Practice - Greenbelt Park Perimeter Trail from Sweetgum parking. Ran with a new guy named Tim. He cramped on the way back so we stopped then slowed. Stop time was included but the total time was estimated since neither of us had our watches. I felt better than the previous day. Saw John Torrance afterward as he volunteered to train young ROTC'ers in orienteering.

Running (Trail) 44:46 [4] 6.4 mi (7:00 / mi)

PGRC Poker Run at Buddy Attick Park - I did 5 loops (1.28 miles/loop) around the lake and got a pair of aces to take second place and won $20. It was hot (around 90F and humid). I was either out of shape, not used to the weather or tired still from APOC.

Orienteering (Training) 1:19:48 [2] 5.0 km (15:58 / km)

At Bowie State. It was hot and nasty out. Black and yellow flies were biting and pestered me constantly so that I didn't notice the mosquitoes until after I finished. Even the "white" areas of woodland were overgrown. I wasn't very fast because I wanted to maintain as much contact as I could. There was significant new construction of roads (paved and unpaved) and trails that makes areas of the map a bit out of date. Estimated the distance and used an old course.

Running (Street & Trail) 32:00 [3] 4.2 mi (7:37 / mi)

From the UMD Track, a loop around the golf course, coming back on Adelphi Rd. I kept going down dead ends and also finding myself back on the greens. There were nice parts of the trail but it's too bad that a route hadn't been made all the way around. There was more to it before the tornado ripped-up the trees on the east side. It was hot but dry--my mouth was dry the whole way.

Orienteering (Competition) 1:54:23 [4] 7.8 km (14:40 / km)

APOC Day 6 of 6; North American Championships Day 2 of 2. On the Dalmuir map near Edmonton, Canada. I bombed badly (20 minutes) on #2 and had a very hard time relocating. After that I got better but later somehow got confused about which control I was on and made a type of parrallel error. I inadvertently skipped #12 in the process thus DQing myself. The bomb on #12 alone cost me about 27 minutes in error relocating and getting to #13. Besides these 2, I would have had a decent time but that's all part of the sport. This is getting to be a bad habit with skipping controls.

Running (Trail) 12:00 [2] 2.5 km (4:48 / km)

Warm-up for APOC Day 6 on the road and the trail to the start.
