Bicycling (Commute) 13:59 [3] 2.86 mi (4:53 / mi)
slept:5.0 weight:175.5lbs (injured)

From Northfield Rd., to Montgomery Ave. with Max in his trailer via the Georgetown Branch Trail tunnel, then to the Bethsda Metro Station. We raced Peggy who was in her car (headed to a training class) and partly slowed-up by us, route choice and traffic. We were able to be even with her at about the 0.75 mile point and this pleased Max!

Bicycling (Commute) 12:45 [3] 2.6 mi (4:54 / mi)
(injured)

From the Bethesda Metro Station, to Montgomery Ave. to pickup Max's trailer, then to Northfield Rd. via the Air Rights Building tunnel. I hadn't had to pickup Max's trailer in a long while. Since I'd worked rather late, this was in the dark. It was warm enough not to need a jacket!

Bicycling (Mountain) 29:36 [3] 6.09 mi (4:52 / mi)
slept:5.0 weight:176lbs (injured)

From Northfield Rd., I did a late evening ride through the streets of Bethesda that included a trip through Kenwood and a trip to the grocery store. The cherry blossoms were out in Kenwood. Light rain was falling and it was very windy but I was dressed just right. Riding my mountain bike through the streets at night is fun--it's so heavy feeling but rides soft. The weight makes sure that I get a workout even at the lower speeds of the night.

Bicycling (Stationary) 30:00 [3]
slept:4.5 weight:175.5lbs (injured)

I found an old Groucho Marx movie to watch while I pedaled late in the evening. I need to keep up the training somehow so as not to lose all the efforts over the winter. Running in the rain after the excursion yesterday was probably not a good idea so cycling was a decent alternative. I felt some discomfort in my calf while cycling but only when I paid close attention.

Orienteering (Foot) 14:34 [2] * 0.7 mi (20:48 / mi)
spiked:6/6c slept:8.0 weight:175.5lbs (injured)

QOC: Wheaton Regional Park, MD. For warming-up Max and I had a long walk to find bathrooms and we eventually got lunch at the ice rink--I ate a hot dog and fries. Max had part of a hot dog and a big pretzel. We didn't see Peggy when we got back and Max was ready to do a course. He'd been fickle about a choice of doing the White course or the Streamer course. Knowing that Alexis Merka (slightly older than him) had done the Streamer course already, he chose that. I trailed along and needed to jog at times to keep up. I was worried about jogging it and injuring myself before going out but it worked out okay. Max was slower going up the hills. He was following the streamers but really did have a sense of what to do each time we paused to read the map. He mostly knew where we were based on which control we'd just punched at but took the correct turns at trail intersections. The controls themselves did not match the map in several places. Though they paralleled the placements on the map, some had been moved around to aid the kids in locating turns, etc... Max had run the same course 2 or 3 years back though he probably has no memory of it. I was pleasantly surprised to see him motivated to get up hills and run most of the way this time. He liked the stickers at the controls too! Since I'd locked the van before running, when we got back, Peggy was waiting cold and not so happy :(.

Orienteering (Foot) 31:08 [3] *** 3.97 km (7:50 / km)
spiked:6/8c (injured)

QOC: Wheaton Regional Park, MD. With Peggy back, I got a chance to go out and do the Brown course. The warm-up on the streamer course raised my confidence in being able to run so I started out doing so. I wore my trail shoes--something I wouldn't do if I were racing. They felt fine while running about at the slower speeds I was doing.

The last time I ran in this park, I had a similar first leg. It was short an involved going down to a stream, crossing it and going a little way past the next ridge top. I was so far left last time that I was thinking about being careful not to do it again. I even let myself drift right. Somehow, I still ended up to the left and above the control--not quite as bad as the last time but enough to be annoying. I don't know if I errored or if it was just another example why I think the map needs an update. On the second leg, I used a route through an area mapped with an ugly/scarry looking green but my visual inspection reavealed it to be not so bad; I even used a deer trail much of the way through the worst of it. The next couple legs were pretty easy with mostly trails to use. I knew from talking with course setter Mark Mace that he had to make undesired alterations (park concerns about going near the horse barns surfaced) to his original course and attribute the low level of difficulty to that. I developed a need to use a bathroom after #2 so my mind was distracted by that the rest of the way. On leg #6 following an accurate bearing was important and I executed this well, I shuffled along and as I dropped to a stream and trail crossing, I could see Dasa Merka choosing to go up the same reentrant that I was. I was surprised that I was gaining on her. Tthough she was doing a longer course, I though the hill and my injury were slowing me more than that. I did walk the steep part getting up to #6. I think our courses were the same for the next leg. I continued gaining on Dasa and eventually passed her on the left as I followe a bearing across and over a hilltop. I went right past a familiar area but was in too much of a rush to pause and make sure of my location. As I headed down the hill, I noticed a reentrant ahead and thought it would take me to the control. I should have been over one to the right. I think this only cost me about 15-20 seconds. I neglected to exit #7 on the best route but got on it soon enough. I spiked #8 with it being visible from a trail a long way off--the woods are at there best in this park right now. I also spiked the finish with my route across the woods NE of it. Of course, being able to see the large building near the start made it easier... I enjoyed getting out and being able to run on my legs. I took some ribbing from Peggy and others at the finish for being fool-hardy and taking risks while trying to recover from my injury.

Orienteering (Control Pickup) 33:49 [2] *** 1.57 mi (21:32 / mi)
spiked:7/7c (injured)

QOC: Wheaton Regional Park, MD. Going out on this my calf/achilles was a litte more sore and stiff. I gathered 7 controls including one water stop in the hilliest part of the park and held-up okay. My navigation was good but I kept noticing areas of the map that I'd like updated/fixed.

Orienteering (Field Checking) 3:10:00 [1] 3.25 mi (58:28 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:174.5lbs (injured)

From the Rockville Sports Complex near Rock Creek Park in MD., I crossed north of Southlawn Dr. and started with the hillsides of the landfill. I'd covered part of this area last weekend but having lost the GPS tracks it was worth doing it again. With features on paper this time, I was much better able to keep track of my position and record the area. I found it interesting with a sort of stair step to it and a mix of runnable and less runnable mature and immature trees. There were several clearings that were mostly horizontal on the stair steps best of all, there were some seemingly erratic boulders hidden about. Looking across the grassy top of the landfill, there was more interesting contour but with the methane extraction pipes running all over the place, we'll not be able to use any of that for decades. I also covered some of what I expect will be very enjoyable fast open woods on a large rounded hill that's somewhat south of the dam. Our Summer Short Series training ventures into these area should be helpful with at least 3 distinct terrain areas--the two already mentioned and the boulder strewn stream valleys below them. I did feel some soreness walking around on uphill parts but the more I was out, the better I felt. I tried a few steps running here and there too. These didn't hurt.

Running (Street & Trail) 7:44 [2] 0.92 mi (8:24 / mi)
slept:5.0 (injured)

I was glad to return to spring in Bethesda, MD this evening. Despite cloudy skies, the weather was much warmer than it was in Kansas City, MO. I'd been eagar to try running after basically a week off. I started off in the dark in light rain and headed up the gradual hill on Northfield Rd. to Greenwich Park. Hills had aggrivated my injury a week ago. I took it easy and felt like things were going okay. However I was happy to get to Georgetown Rd. where it was flatter. I moved steadily and felt okay. I figured I'd be able to do a planned 2 mile easy run. With a very slight uphill grade approaching Cedar Ln. I felt it was time to shorten the run. I turned down Sonoma Rd. and on the down hill felt like I should be able to run better. However that wasn't the case. I needed to slow before the second block and then decided to make it as short as possible by heading back on Grant St. I toughed it out for a minute but finally decided to just walk home a little bit before reaching Greentree Rd. This little outing made my injury surprisingly more sore. It also felt more localized in a diagonal from the lower calf and into the achilles tendon. My memory is that the injury was higher before. It looks like this will take a while to heal and that I'll have to rely on bicycling for exercise for a while.

Calisthenics (General) 2:00 [3]
slept:6.5 (injured)

45 situps in my hotel in Overland Park, KS. I was more tempted to run this day and had actually brought clothes to try it after work. However, a work social dinner got planned and I used the remaining time afterward for some needed shopping afterward. I also noted some unexpected uncomfortableness in my injured calf--may that was weather related.

Orienteering (Field Checking) 3:10:00 [1] 2.4 mi (1:19:11 / mi)
slept:4.5 weight:173.5lbs (injured)

Rock Creek Park, Rockville, MD. Starting from the Rockville Sportsplex, I did some field checking north of Southlawn Rd. Things were going pretty well. I found a mix of difficulty level features; a lot of it was rock. I traced several rides and clearings and took 40 waypoints. Unfortunately, something happened later and my GPS tracings were lost. At least I have my notes and they waypoints still. It was fun to get out again. I'd had few opportunities to field check new terrain this winter. My calf is getting stronger but its still better to go easy on it for now.

Orienteering (Foot) 1:48:31 [2] *** 4.3 km (25:14 / km)
spiked:10/10c (injured)

QOC: Little Bennett Regional Park, MD. I had intended to just try walking a course and figured that I'd take whatever kids wanted to go with me. The girls within Max's playgroup all went off together since the boys didn't want to go at all. I waited them out kicking a ball in a field for a while and eventually got my Max and Max Lennon to go with me to walk a Brown course. I didn't want to risk a change of mind so I rushed us off to a start with one compass and one and a half-maps. I hadn't realized that the Brown course was going to be 4.3K; they usually are around 3.5K for QOC. Max Lennon didn't have gaitors and neither did my Max. It took us 14 minutes with some stop and go, getting to the first control. We were more efficient later but before going, I hadn't thought we'd be out for as long as we were. I carried my son on my shoulders on the climb portion of the first leg--fortunately, my range of motion with my right foot had improved enough to do this. It's now when I try to extend a stride by toeing-off that it hurts. I gave Max Lennon my compass and map and let him take us to the controls. We checked routes on legs, went over setting bearings, and checked things off as we went. Max Lennon really understands the navigation. He just wasn't used to the planning and figuring out what is a safe or quick route. His motivation wasn't quite evident but with this being a more technical course, I think it may have held more interest for him. I felt bad about dragging both Max's out, especially when Max Lennon would silently stop and pull thorns from his unprotected ankle. My own Max got tired enough soon enough that I ended up carrying him over the thorns and hills for close to 2/3rds of the course. He had fun swinging sticks at branches that were attacking him and though he weight +40 lbs., he feels light. I couldn't tell if Max Lennon was having any fun at all due to his quiet nature but at dinner later, he seemed to genuinely say he had fun too. The attached GPS track is incomplete--some sort of data loss ocurred.

Orienteering (Foot) 45:00 [1] *** 2.0 km (22:30 / km)
spiked:5/5c

Little Bennett Regional Park. With 8 controls still out and it appearing that few would be around to help out, I went out to get 4 of them that were nearby. I ran into Dave Onkst along the way. I knew Heidi was going to ask him to get the other 4 so I worked it out with him to pickup 3 of them that were farther away. My first control was a water stop with lots of jugs and plastic cups. There weren't any bags available when I started so all I had to clean-up with was one plastic bag and another zip lock that someone left there. I restacked the smashed cups since that was the only way to stuff everything into the one bag I had. After I got 2 other controls, I ran into Greg Lennon who had been sent out after the other 4 controls (2 of which Dave Onkst had gotten). He had been dropped-off by car so he took some of my load too.

Bicycling (Mountain) 22:12 [3] 5.13 mi (4:20 / mi)
(injured)

Since I hurt my calf, I didn't run the QOC Night-O this evening. However I did help out with the meet and got to talk briefly with most of the finishers. The evening was so nice, clear skies, calm, warm, crescent moon, that after returning I wanted to get out. I jumped on my mountain bike and just rode some of the streets and trails that I often run. I was happy to find that I could exert downward pressure on my right foot without aggrivating the particular muscle that I pulled in my calf. Just walking around from the parking lot to the meet, I noticed much improvement over the day before. The night riding was fun but I needed to keep a careful eye out for hazards. There were some blind intersections, potholes and an unsual number of people driving about coming from parties.

Running (Street & Trail Commute) 1:15:57 intensity: (50:00 @2) + (25:57 @3) 8.05 mi (9:26 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:171.5lbs (injured)

From the Van Ness/UDC Metro Station in Washington, D.C. down Connecticutt Ave. to Tilden St. to the Rock Creek Trail to Broad Branch Rd., trails on the west side of valley to Military Rd., then up the paved trail to the Western Ridge Trail, to Wise Rd. to Chestnut Rd. to Winnett Rd. to Brennon Ln. to Thornapple St. to Leland St. to Wisconsin Ave. to Bethesda Ave., to Woodmont Ave. to Edgemoor Ln. and the Bethesda Metro Station in Maryland. I'd been looking forward to using this commute route for running homeward again since last fall, before the Standard Time began and it got too dark after work. Though the distance isn't that long, it's hilly and I didn't want to overdo it. I almost picked a run from Takoma Park but I wanted to enjoy the dirt trails and decided to take it easy. On the initial climb from the metro station, my right calf was tight like it had been on recent runs. It felt better on the long downhill on Tilden St. Once I hit the dirt trails and hills in Rock Creek Park, I noticed my right calf continuing to hurt on climbs. The long climb on the paved trail along Military Rd. was where it became noticeably more painful and caused me to slow even more. I still had about 5 miles to go along the planned route and it was getting cooler as the daylight was ending. I kept shuffling along, favoring the right calf and getting slower. Perhaps I should have taken the shortest route home. Once on the roads in Chevy Chase, things got worse. I had to walk a few steps to loosen it up, especially on or right after climbs. I experimented with changing the orientation of my foot but it didn't help. Shorter strides did and I didn't have to walk much the last 2 miles. At one point, I favored my right leg so much that my left knee started to hurt. I shortened the route slightly to finish up. Once done and walking to my car, my legs felt very imbalanced. Knowing during the last few miles that this would be the last run for me for at least a few days, it felt important for me to keep going to enjoy as much of it as I could.

Note

One interesting development that I hope is temporary is that while I was running, I felt a lot of stinging around one eye, and later the other. It was from sweat going over what now feels like dry skin where I'll probably one day develop bigger crows feet wrinkles. I can't recall ever feeling this before and I usually sweat a lot. Visually, I can't see any difference in the skin now but I can definately feel a difference with this area and others by touching with my finger.

San Antonio, TX. From Houston St. into the River Walk trails headed south to Guenther St. then back via Alamo St. It was raining lightly this morning and I just wanted to get in a run before heading back home. I felt fairly well most of the way though coming back I felt like I was dragging a bit. There were a few slow spots making turns and crossing bridges in the River Walk areas. My right calf continues to feel sore when starting out running and afterwards.

Running (Street & Trail) 29:06 [3] 3.9 mi (7:28 / mi)
slept:10.0

San Antonio, TX. From San Jose Mission Park, San Jose Dr., to a foot trail, to Padre Dr., into Mission County Park, to the Mission Hiker-Biker Trail (E. Pyron Ave.) to the gate at Espada Park (near Military Rd., Rte. 13) back up the Mission Hiker-Biker Trail to Napier Ave. to San Jose Mission. While Peggy and Max toured the Visitor Center, I tried to find part of a route that I'd done when I visited the city several years back. I felt okay and even good going out--it was often slightly downhill with the wind at my back. However, coming back, I felt slower. When I'd gone through this area years earlier part of the roads were under construction and it took me a little remembering to figure that out.

Peggy, Max and I toured the San Jose Mission after my run. The mission was largely reconstructed but looked impressive along the lines of European standards. Dating from the 1760's it was also quite older than I usually think about buildings of this sort being in the U.S. It was interesting to learn how politics, church, community and commerce blended together. The story of the cathedral dome collapsing onto the worshipers there for Christmas Mass was interesting. The way the Indian converts made dwellings just on the inside of the compound walls made me think of an early ghetto though it was probably nicer, relative to the time, than that. The exhibit showing examples of what they had to eat (corn, potatoes, other grains, some vegetables, and bugs) that drove it home--it was a successful agrarian commerce that kept it going but I had a hard time imagining living on their diet. We ate a late lunch at I-Hop afterwards.

Orienteering (Foot) 1:31:48 [3] **** 6.5 km (14:07 / km)
spiked:7/10c slept:8.0

Bastrop State Park, TX. From the playground area near the campground, I did the long permanent advanced course. Peggy had already gotten the map in the morning and said that the woods were great. It started out pretty nice but the map was rather out of date as I got further to the east on the flatter and less used portions of the park. The map was 1:15,000 and probably pretty nice for 1990 when it was created. Old styles of mapping were pretty evident with the contours being adjusted (widened or used where there was not actually a full contour of difference) to give the impression one might feel when in the terrain instead of a more literal depiction. The trails and roads were not drawn to the same level of exactness as easy access to high resolution photos and GPS makes possible today too. The predominantly pine woods were shown as mostly white but even in some of the best of them there were things hanging from trees and arcing branches that often had me running zig-zags. I had fun and it was definately worth the outing. The floor was covered with needles which made footing both slippery and like running on sand. I used my trail shoes and missed havnig spikes. I missed my first control partly due to a mapped trail no longer being on the map. The next one that I missed (#79) took a lot of time as it was a depression in the middle of dense green though mapped as being in white woods. It was surprising that I missed it since I'd come right past #77, only 250m away. It was also fairly flat there. I was right on target for #86 (there were 121 mapped permanant controls) and I was pleased with hitting it since I came at the reentrant through more green from a poor attack point on the direct route. Returning more to the east, I spiked #44 but confident in my route to #51, I never found it. I tried to relocate a couple of times but the mapping of the trails in the area was not matching what I saw in reality. Eventually I found control #122, a new one that was not mapped, and I concluded that #51 had been relocated. I lost a lot of time hunting for #51. It made my overall time look pretty slow but I was moving pretty well most of the time elsewhere. I was a little low coming off a trailbend toward #10. A lot of the controls were harder than expected and part of it was due to the permanent controls, on flat plastic posts, often being oriented on edge to the direction that I was coming from. It was in the upper 70's F and sunny this day and I was thirsty after finishing. It might be nice if local clubs had an A-meet here but the whole map would need to be updated, contours, trails, and vegetation.

Austin, TX. From the Zilker Park canoe house, up Barton Creek toward Barton Springs Pool, down Barton Creek to the Colorado River, downstream to S. Lamar Blvd. upstream toward the Mopac Expressway, back to Barton Creek and the boathouse. With Peggy up front, Max in the middle, and myself in the rear, we had an enjoyable canoe outing. We saw lots of other boaters, ducks, geese, and big turtles. There was a good breeze blowing on the open river and it was sunny. If I'd have taken a GPS track, it would have looked rather wavy. Sometimes Max helped with that by dragging his paddle. Overall we moved quick across the waters. We had a near collision at the end when a group of younger guys had trouble with left and right being backwards and we scraped sides. My arms felt tired after we finished and I sweat a bit. Temperatures were in the mid-70's F. Later-on, we had lunch and came back to Zilker Park to see the Umlauf sculpture garden.

Running (Street & Trail) 1:20:57 [3] 10.58 mi (7:39 / mi) +115m 7:24 / mi
slept:6.0 weight:172.5lbs (sick)

From 14th & Independence Ave. to 17th St., along the Reflecting Pool to the Lincoln Memorial, to Ohio Dr. to the Rock Creek Trail, to the C&O Canal Towpath, to the Capital Crescent Trail, to the Little Falls Trail, to Masachusetts Ave., to the Capital Crescent Trail, to Bethesda Ave. to Woodmont Ave. to Edgemoore Ln. Like many in the DC area today, the 62 F sunny weather (that I started with) motivated me for a longer run than I've been doing lately. I set out trying to keep things comfortable. I can't recall having been passed so much in the past. It was partly a sign of being older, being sick and being amongst people with Spring Fever. A pair of women passed me along the Reflecting Pool but it seemed like they were doing intervals. I almost passed them again as they slowed at the steps leading up toward Lincoln Circle. Another guy passed me along the Potomac River on the way to Georgetown. He kept slowing down and when he noticed me catching him again, he'd speed-up. Leaving Georgetown, another guy moved past me quickly. I could see him continually pulling ahead to Fletcher's Boathouse where he turned up toward MacArthur Blvd. Once I got off the towpath, I moved steadily up the grade and felt like I was cruising pretty well. It had gotten too dark to read my watch. I put more effort into it as I neared the first crux of the water treatment plant. On the Little Falls Trail, I could feel myself slow a bit--it was hard to tell what kind of pace I was doing and it was much cooler--I even felt a heat island approaching Bethesda. After finishing, I went into a nasal drip hacking fit that was so pronounced and continuous (until I finished driving home) that I was on the verge of getting out of breath from it. I think it had been September when I last did this route, and before that, last April. Available measured splits: 7:34 (1 mile), 7:51 (1.02 mile), 3:51 (half mile), 3:51, 3:51, 3:49, 3:55. I missed seeing the last two mile markers in the dark. Overall, the splits were faster today but I'll still look for improvement.

Calisthenics (General) 2:00 [3]
slept:6.0 weight:172.5lbs (sick) (rest day)

45 situps. I would have liked to run but once I finally got a chance in the evening I was too worn out. I had been tired all day--perhaps this is a relapse of being sick.

Orienteering race (Foot) 2:06:43 intensity: (2:22 @1) + (8:00 @2) + (50:47 @3) + (1:05:19 @4) + (15 @5) **** 10.7 km (11:51 / km) +340m 10:13 / km

QOC: Prince William Forest, Happyland. With the park thawed out and warming into the upper 50's F, I and a bunch of other people were happy to get back into orienteering again. Francis Hogle set courses that had some similarities to the 2007 US Championships which started in the same general area. The varying thicknesses of the forest was the prime factor to consider in route planning though my own early consideration was to run at a pace that I'd be able to hold for the course. Not running much for a while, while being sick and getting over it, my confidence in my physical shape wasn't good. I felt reasonably confident about being able to navigate the park but also knew from experience that it would be very technical navigation. The map was overall pretty good but could have used some updates in a few areas. I was pleased with the run but I had too many errors today too. Exemplifying it early on, I hit the reentrant for #2 right on but didn't see the control tucked into the ditch. I ran to the next ditch only to come back and find it at the first again later. My route to #4 was odd--I must have cut to the ridge it was on too early. I came across a lot of green and extra reentrants before finally getting there; very tentative. I also hacked-up phlem a lot which should have made it easy for others to hear me. I hit #5 just fine but as I was reading the map and leaving, I snagged a thorn or twig on my face below my left eye. As I turned to release, I only tore a gash. I shook it off but made an error going to #6 by going down, a reentrant too early. I relocated on a pit--the one thing I did well all day was relocate. It's a nice skill to have but not one which I'd like to have to use much. Leg #7 was similar to one that I'd vetted for in the US Champsionships in 2007. I passed Jon Pifer on the way then made the same mistake that I had before on this leg, by getting suckered over to the reentrant to the left. I hit #8 okay and saw Victor Lin going on the long leg to #13, the other way. Leaving #8, I got too high and left. After tunneling through the green slowly, I dropped into one reentrant past the one that I should have... I got #10, #11, and #12 okay. I just wasn't that fast. Going for #13, I went up the stream and fairly close to #7. After that I got slowed by the thick and thorny woods. Some of it pulled at my already cut face. I passed Mark Mace in the middle of nowhere which just goes to show how the thickness of the woods become walls that funnel people. At the road, I cut left a short way rather than go across the deadfall. The running on the direct route was some of the more open terrain of the course. The hiils weren't bad but I was slow. I got to thinking I should look for the control one ridge too soon but using contours, I figured this out on the run. #14 and #15 were turning controls; I ate a Gu at one of them. I got #16 just fine by skirting the deadfall on the right side of it. Going for #17, I ran through what was mapped as the worst green on the map--it wasn't bad at all using the hole I found near the reentrant junction. However, I got too high. Hitting a reentrant junction, I corrected. I hit #18 and #19 just fine. Running up the road to the Go control, I didn't feel too bad but clearer lungs would have helped. I was glad to be able to run the hills and keep my feet churning through the distance--inspiration from reading Born-to-Run was shining through.

Running (Street & Trail) 17:01 [3] 2.27 mi (7:30 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:173.5lbs (sick)

From Northfield Rd. to Old Georgetown Rd. via Greenwich Park, to Johnson Ave. to Heampsteadt Ave. to McKinley St. to Garfield St. to Roosevelt St. to Jefferson St. to Northfield Rd. I had another busy Saturday that including round of duck pin bowling in the evening. After bringing Max back to earth from that and getting him to bed, I dragged myself out. It was easier running than the day before. I was about 7:40 at the first mile. There were still snowy parts to get through in Greenwich Park.

Running (Street & Trail) 17:59 [3] 2.36 mi (7:37 / mi)
slept:4.0 weight:174.5lbs (sick)

From Northfield Rd. to Custer Rd. to Battery Ln. to Exeter Rd. to Edgemoor Ln. to Hampden Ln. to Moorland Ln. to Wilson Ln. to Aberdeen Rd. to Garfield St. to Northfield Rd. After a busy day, I got out rather late. It was partly to see if I could run while still having congested lungs and partly to help me get over being sick. I think running can actually help me get over being sick if done after the worst has past. As I started into this run, I felt fine climbing slowly. After 200m, it caught-up with me. I was sucking for air but luckily I reached the top of this small rise. I felt better till the next one and continued that way till the end.

Bicycling (Stationary) 30:15 [3]
slept:4.75 weight:174.5lbs (sick)

I had another long work day but still was motivated to workout. I rode better than the night before despite getting less rest due to a hacking cough; so that's a good sign that my health is returning.

Bicycling (Stationary) 30:00 [3]
slept:6.0 weight:174.5lbs (sick)

After our self-made Family Day celebration (it's been 4 years since we brought Max home), I eventually got on my bike. I went to work today too and noticed then that I was weak. Cycling was no different but at least I did something.

Calisthenics (General) 2:00 [3]
slept:5.5 weight:175.5lbs (sick)

45 situps was all that I managed to do and it was hard at that. I intended to run from work and even brought my clothes there. I didn't feel so well as it was time to go. By the time I'd eaten and gotten Max to bed, I came down with fever chills that lasted into the night.
