Circuits 35:00 [3]

ShUOC circuits. Tired after the weekend and another tough day in Eccy Woods (it's nearly finished!). Felt more or less OK though.

Running 45:00 [2] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)

Run from home and back plus some warm up at S10. Bloody cold, esp running home.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [5] ***** 15.0 km (4:00 / km)
spiked:23/25c

Venice street race. Pretty amazing experience, even now I can't quite believe that you are allowed to leg it round all these ancient alleyways and piazzas. Half of the tourists and locals seemed to think it was all very funny and half of them seemed to think it was completely outrageous - you got a real mixture of cheers and abuse! I had a decent race, ran about as fast as I could given the intensity of the navigation and only made a handful of hesitations. Matthias Merz pipped me by about 6 seconds, but he did start a bit later so probably a few more tourists about...I lost about 20 secs with a crap route to the last control, but so did Merz so fair enough.

Very tired afterwards and sore legs from the hard surface. Sorry to leave Venice though, it was a real shock to see cars again...

Running warm up/down 35:00 [2] 6.0 km (5:50 / km)

Jogging about in amazing sunshine.

Note
(rest day)

Hardly a rest though. Spent the whole day walking about and looking in art galleries. Covered a lot of alleyways and crossed a lot of bridges. My endurance for wandering aimlessly was better even than Jenny's today - she's normally very good at that kind of thing from years of shopping training.

(rest day)

Out to Venice.

Running Drills 20:00 [4] 1.0 km (20:00 / km)

Drills at Myers Grove, usual session with 8 sprints.

Running 40:00 [1] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)

Rest of the Loxley run with Jen in the blustery wind.

Running 40:00 [2] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)

Just a quickie up Loxley Valley.

Track session intervals 30:00 [5] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

Hallamshire track session. Strides and drills then 3x1500, 1x1200 off 5.55, 5 whole secs less recovery than last week and boy did I feel it. Started a bit too hard and faded badly, 4.41, 4.49, 4.53, 3.56. Think I equaled my 1500 PB on the first one...

Running 55:00 [2] 10.0 km (5:30 / km)

Run to track and back with Rob and Mike. Found it hard to get myself out of the door for the run there tonight, but the run home is my favourite session of the week. It hurts but the worst pain is over for a whole 7 days!
