One week down, and one to go. Could probably go a bit longer on the treadmill, but it is boring.

Food reached a new low last night with chicken schnitzel and chips. The coating was thick and rubbery, the tomato and cheese topping was salty; and the chips were cold and soggy. It was just nasty

Day 6. Considered hall sprints this morning, but decided it wasn't a good idea and did the treadmill instead. Steady pace.

This morning they served "waffles" for breakfast. I use the term waffle in the context of the shape and colour, because it was in no way edible. It was was so hard you probably would have broken teeth if you had tried to bite into it. A new low in the culinary offerings.

Day 5. Decided to do a tempo session of 4 x 1km. This was the warm up, recovery and the warm down

4 x 1km at a quicker pace. The treadmill has a top speed of 14 km/hr, so basically cranked it up to max pace.

Day 3.
Basically a long slow grind. The treadmill only has manual gradient adjustment, so changed it before I started. It isn't much of a slope but after a while it is noticeable.

So after 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 3 dinners the food has varied from not nice to inedible. Last night was chicken curry. The best bit was the boiled rice. The flat bread could have been used as a coaster, but definitely wasn't for eating.

Day 2. Morning run. Turned the treadmill around so I could see out the window. Made the view more pleasant, but it was still a treadmill. Decided that 7 k was enough. will try a walk later.

Day 1 of quarantine. The treadmill arrived late after dinner, so not inclined to go for a run. Decided on a brisk walk instead. Managed to work up a sweat in the confines of the room while looking at the wall in front.

Note

Starting to plan the return to Australia. As part of the prep checked out treadmill hire. Although I am not a fan it is the only way to get a run in over the two weeks. Soon discovered it is another chance to screw poor Joe public who has no other choices. Price for 2 weeks hire of a suitable treadmill in quarantine is $380. The price of the same treadmill for a short term hire of 4 weeks at home is $180. So half the time and twice the price because they know you're really desperate, and they have a monopoly.
