Tuesday Mar 31, 2020 #

walk 1:00:00 [1] 6.7 km (8:57 / km)

Brisk walk through Bloomsbury and Fitzrovia. Abductors were not feeling as tight this morning, but there is nothing pressing at the moment, so having an easy week

Exercise session 20:00 [3]

Two days in a row for an exercise session.

Monday Mar 30, 2020 #

Exercise session 20:00 [3]

Exercise circuit concentrating on core and upper body

walk 1:00:00 [1] 7.0 km (8:34 / km)

Still tight in the abductors, so focus on walking this week

Sunday Mar 29, 2020 #

running 16:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:20 / km)

Started OK, but quickly got tight in the abductors, so stopped and walked home

walk 20:00 [1] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)

Friday Mar 27, 2020 #

running 31:00 [3] 6.5 km (4:46 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom Fly knit cream

Warm up loop around Buckingham Palace, although probably a bit quicker than ideal

Exercise session 20:00 [3]

Some warm exercises and then 15 minute block ARAP, 20 squats, 10 pushups, 20 lunges, 10 reverse rows. Managed 8 rounds in the 15 minutes. But tired at the end

The not so official press was today reporting that the Queen is furious with MI5 for mistakenly giving the wrong son corona.

Thursday Mar 26, 2020 #

running 53:40 [3] 11.0 km (4:53 / km)
shoes: Nike zoom fly 3

Fairly easy run around Hyde Park. It was cold this morning. Oxford St was almost deserted, I think I saw about 10 people in 1.5k, whereas it would normally be pretty busy. No one coming out of the tube exits.

Wednesday Mar 25, 2020 #

running 40:30 [3] 8.2 km (4:56 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom Fly knit cream

A bit flat this morning. Numbers in Hyde Park appeared to be down on normal.

Exercise session 20:00 [3]

Joined an online exercise challenge group, to add a bit of variety. Today it was a 1 - 10 rep ramp for burpee, squat, pushup, side hip raise, sit up, lunge.

Tuesday Mar 24, 2020 #

running 37:40 [3] 8.0 km (4:43 / km)
shoes: Nike zoom fly 3

As predicted things got a lot tighter overnight, People are now basically confined to home, with he exceptions being one exercise session per day, infrequent shopping for food. Not sure how they are checking about the one exercise session, or how frequently you shop for food, but there have been mounted police and mounted soldier patrols around the streets in my area. Have never seen the mounted soldiers around here ever before.
So f only allowed out once a day for a run plan to make it worthwhile.

Exercise session 20:00 [3]

The gym in the building is closed, so exercise session in the apartment.
The concierge thinks they will do a roster for the gym and only one person at a time. Mind you I have never had anyone else there at 6:30 in the morning.

Monday Mar 23, 2020 #

running 48:40 [3] 10.2 km (4:46 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom Fly knit cream

Making the most of getting out in the mornings while I can. There is a big potential to go to much tighter lock down with unknown impact for training. It could be as bad as having to have a permit to go for a walk, not being more tham 1 km from home or both.
This is in response to the behaviour of people over the weekend where the physical distancing guidelines were ignored and people crowded into parks and other areas. UK version of Bondi beach. Clearly Australians are genetically derived from the poms.

Sunday Mar 22, 2020 #

running 52:40 [3] 11.0 km (4:47 / km)
shoes: Nike zoom fly 3

Along embankment to tower bridge and then back on the south side. Detour just before the bridge because the path around the tower was closed.
Fewer runners than normal, and the streets are basically otherwise deserted.

Friday Mar 20, 2020 #

running 48:00 [3] 10.0 km (4:48 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom Fly knit cream

Hyde Park.
A couple of benefits of working from home are that I can sit around in my running gear/gym clothes for as long as I like and I can use my previous 10 minute walking commute for a second coffee.

Thursday Mar 19, 2020 #

Exercise session 20:00 [3]

Post run gym session. Might be getting more gym time if rumours of a lock down are correct

running 35:40 [3] 7.5 km (4:45 / km)
shoes: Nike zoom fly 3

Around St James Park and BP.

Wednesday Mar 18, 2020 #

running 42:50 [3] 8.8 km (4:52 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom Fly knit cream

Hyde park serpentine loop.
Weird this morning the footpath along Piccadilly was almost deserted. Doing the right thing and working from home as much as I can, although I don't use public transport and the office set up was designed for social isolation.
The UK is only into its second day of the pseudo lock down (the lock down you have when you don't want to call it a lock down), and already about 30% of shops have closed. restaurants and cafes are deserted and the streets are basically empty.
An enterprising hotel in Williamstown has rejigged its dining room and lounge area, removing tables so that there is a minimum 1.5 m between, thereby meeting social distancing guidelines.

Exercise session 15:00 [3]

Quick gym session

Tuesday Mar 17, 2020 #

running 48:10 [3] 10.1 km (4:46 / km)

Regents Park.
Tuesday is one of the busier days for the cyclists lapping the outer loop of Regents Park. Several groups present this morning, but the were more dispersed than normal as they practiced social distancing in the peleton.

Monday Mar 16, 2020 #

running 35:50 [3] 7.5 km (4:47 / km)

Sunday Mar 15, 2020 #

running 1:03:00 [3] 13.4 km (4:42 / km) +50m 4:37 / km

Headed to Regents Park and round the internal paths, then Primrose Hill and back through the park via different paths.
Spent a large part of yesterday rearranging the calendar for the next couple of months. Had previously planned trips to US, Malta, Spain and Switzerland between now and mid-May. All now cancelled and the refunds waiting. Travel plans between now and the middle of the year will now be more modest.
The irony is that the work schedule has vapourised and it is going to be really slow in the next couple of months, with meeting after meeting cancelled, so that there it would be much more convenient and easier to have a few days off here and there, but there is nowhere to go.
Doing the coast to coast or part of the salt path would have been an option, but Glenda broke her ankle, so while she has limited mobility those are off.

Friday Mar 13, 2020 #

running 42:30 [3] 9.0 km (4:43 / km)
shoes: Nike zoom fly 3

Convinced the world has gone nuts. some governments in a "pissing" competion with others as to who can impose the toughest restrictions, and then others who despite all the signs and evidence are sitting on their hands. Doesn't make planning very easy.

Thursday Mar 12, 2020 #

Around the outskirts of Aix. Headed from the hotel to the outskirts of and then a short venture into the near by hills before returning through a different part of the suburbs. Coped with the climbs surprisingly well considering hills are not a usually part of training

running 1:06:50 [3] 14.0 km (4:46 / km)

Long run for the week. Went along south side of the river towards tower bridge. Arrived to find 1000’s of runners collecting for an event. A bit of dodgem across the bridge, but once on the path back it settled down.

Spotted an interesting advertising sign for a gym chain:
Your life sucks - you join the gym - you get fit - your life sucks for longer.
