Final run for the Kayanos. They have now done more than 1000km and over 100 session. Contimplated the cost of running shoes during the run this morning. I normally nly buy them on special, but the Kayanos still cost about $160 - $180. That makes it about 16c/km or $1.60 per run. Compare that with a set of tyres for the car, which are about 3c/km

Solid run around the park and canal in Riga. Having a weekend away.

Checked out the infamous door yesterday. Interestingly it was open and being used by tourists and tour guides. Same today. Once inside it is very obvious you can only go one way, whichever direction you go through. The stairs leading up are gated off.

A long weekend coming up and the weather looks set to be really pleasant. According to the locals they are set for a heatwave. But the local definition is pretty soft, 3 days in a row above 28.

Nice run around St James Park and the Palace, with a bit of a detour. A bit quicker than I had expected.

Had a small detour around a crime scene at the top end of the Palace grounds. The police had taped off the road on the south side of the Hyde Park corner round about. There were numerous police cars, an ambulance and a "tent" on the edge of the road covering what I presume was a body. They had completely blocked the section of road and traffic was being diverted down and around Buckinghuge Palace. A detour of about three kms for drivers who might just have been wanting to go around the roundabout. Had to go accross the road and arond the north side of the roundabout then back through Green Park.

Had one of those annoying mornings where things were rearranged to suit an early appointment that then went pearshaped. Out early and limited the session to a run, so I could make an early VYC. Arrived at main buildin in plenty of time, but the system doesn't start until 8 on a Monday morning. Not sure who programmed it, but why is the computer system not opertional before 8? Had to ring and get let in "early", then the VTC didn't want to work properly. Finally gor going about 20 minutes late.
Frustrating.

Was going to go to the evening event, but the train system conspired against me. Trains are usually every 3 or 4 minutes. This evening waited 20 minutes for a train, and then it was so full you couldn’t get on. The next one was another 15 minutes. Gave up and went home to the gym. Apparently a signal failure and the rain caused massive disruption.

First part of the run was reasonably flat, but then all the climb came at once in the form of a 1k hill average of 10%, but with some bits close to 15%. The return was a bit easier.

This was reasonably short after all the walking

Fishing in the Scottish highlands. Walked in from the road and around the loch. Some of the most spectacular scenery I have seen, and well worth the walk. Walking was tough, basically knee high heather and very wet under foot.
Managed to catch a couple of fish as a bonus

A bit slower at the start, followed by a solid middle section, then eased off for the last k.
Overall was faster than I anticipated.

Loop around St James Park. A bit sluggish this morning after a bit of a disturbed night with whatsapp traffic following birth of first grand child.

Noticed how heavy and hard the kayanos seemed compared to the flyknits. The kayanos are getting old and nearly ready for retirement, but the flyknits are a much softer bouncy feel, even the older pair.

Circuitous route through Regents Park to Primrose Hill and back. Flat until Primrose Hill Park, and flat back, all the climb was in the loops around the hill. Managed it better than I thought I might, but should try and do some hill sprints occasionally
