Mid week o event at Farrer Ridge. good to do an orienteering event for the practice. Short, but steep climb from 4 to 5 highlighted the lack of hill fitness. Reasonable run except for 7 which overshot a bit, and 17 where turned the wrong way in the gully and had to run back up. Got 12 OK, but could have stayed in the cleared area a bit longer. Overall a reasonable run, but need to do more hill work.

Took a while to get going and the first 4 k were a bit slow. Freed up after that. As invis noted a couple of weeks ago, the great thing about a new Garmin is that records are reasonably easy to achieve. 2 new ones this morning, 10 k in 49:20, and 5 k in 24. I suspect neither is going to be long term.

Note

Vale garmin 220: June 2014 - 11 January 2018.
Always thought my Garmin was water resistant, but after a couple of laps of the pool yesterday the display started to play up. Put it in a bag of dry rice overnight, but it continued to deteriorate and by this morning only the battery level was visible.
Checked the web, and they are supposedly good to 50m, but maybe that is 50 minutes cumulative and I had used up my time.

Late start for the morning. Watched the fireworks from a friend's balcony on The Strand. Got the full view of all the action. All the ones on the buildings were in sync, and the ones at dock lands and the other locations were in also in sync. Great view across the bay.
