I like Ian, but do not particularly like the pine hill map. Too green and thorny. Spent significant time lost, trying to move too fast, not taking the time to read the map, getting detracted by the thorny vegetation, and generally not having my head in the game - i should know better. oh well, good workout at least...

Orienteering race 1:54:15 [3] 7.5 km (15:14 / km)

Arg! Skipped 17, going directy from 16 to 18. Was very tired at that point in the race and was undoubtedly distracted by one of the Childs kids who punched 16 right after me. Very slow but generally reasonably "run". Jeff Shapiro started 2 minutes after me caught me on the way to 1 (i was confused) and then caught me again at 12 (he had trouble at 2). Took a very bad route to 14 (the long leg) which resulted in lots of extra climb - at least the woods were beautiful. Started cramping up on the way to 15 but dealt with it.

Glad to have survived West Point, and thoroughly enjoyed being beaten up my the terrain.
