hiking 2:43:03 [3] 5.8 mi (28:07 / mi) +124m 26:22 / mi

Reindeer Quest, World's End, HIngham, MA. J-J humored me by accompanying me on this tour around this Trustees of Reservations property, looking for sightings of a lighthouse and some reindeer. Beautiful day, and we did spot Graves Light from one of the hilltops. Closer look after the walk.

Walking on trail 28:41 [3] 2.08 km (13:49 / km) +69m 11:51 / km

The last lighthouse I wanted to see in Lisbon was hidden from any roads by trees, but I looked at a map via Google Maps on my phone last night and noted the trails leading to the light. Farol do Esteiro.. So I got up and out of my lodging early enough to make the trek before I headed to the airport to leave. Bagged my 10th lighthouse in mainland Portugal, and got a couple of pics of lights that I see last week, but couldn't photograph well. Very nice end to the trip.

walking on road 24:56 [3] 2.01 km (12:24 / km) +19m 11:49 / km

Final walk of the Prague portion of the trip, from the Concert in the Liechtenstein palace back to my hotel. Stopped quickly again for more pictures at the Lennon Wall on the way back. Lovely night, and saw three riverboats leaving the locks as I was going by.

12 PM

walking on road 1:33:47 [3] 5.2 km (18:03 / km) +22m 17:40 / km

Prague wanderings to check out St. Wenceslas Square and search for a recommended restaurant. Took some time, as I do not understand the numbering system of the streets.

walking on road 26:25 [3] 2.0 km (13:14 / km)

Lovely night for a walk, from the restaurant to the Dancing House for a nightcap.

walking on road 13:01 [3] 1.19 km (10:56 / km) +29m 9:45 / km

Final walk of the night - from the Dancing House's Rooftop Bar back to the hotel.

7 AM

walking on road 28:19 [3] 1.8 mi (15:44 / mi) +14m 15:21 / mi

"Walk to the Start" from the hotel to the Start/Finish on the Sprint course that I downloaded from the World O-Maps site. I couldn't get in to the original start site, as it appeared to be inside a school courtyard.

Orienteering 1:17:50 [3] 4.27 mi (18:14 / mi) +13m 18:03 / mi

Sprint course, Prague Old Town. Fun experience and hope that there was a lot less traffic/crowds when the course was actually run.

Orienteering 29:44 [3] 2.29 km (13:01 / km)

Decided to do a few controls from the other course I had downloaded that were in the Old Town area. Controls #9 - #1. Hoping to do the rest of the course on a later day.
11 AM

walking on road 34:11 [3] 1.67 mi (20:28 / mi) +34m 19:15 / mi

"Walk back from the finish". Back to the hotel after the orienteering.

walking on road 1:44:44 [3] 4.73 km (22:08 / km) +16m 21:47 / km

Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. Obviously the route doesn't do well in cities and confined areas. Still interesting to know and document where I went that day.

7 AM

walking on road 3:57:28 [3] 8.69 km (27:20 / km) +154m 25:06 / km

Our exploration of Prague, including Guided Tour around the Jewish Ghetto, Old Town, Charles Bridge and Lesser Town. Followed independently with a visit to a church, the Victims of Communism Memorial, Petrin Town (accessed via the funicular), a walk back to the Charles Bridge, to dinner and the Marionette Show. Track until the watch ran out of battery.

5 AM

hiking 22:58 [3] 0.72 mi (31:53 / mi) +78m 23:51 / mi

My final trip out to say goodbye to my light, Farol do Cabo da Roca. Headed south further than usual to avoid the crowd from the six tour buses in the parking lot. Tracked only the return so doubled the distance and time.

Walking on the Beach 20:41 [3] 0.28 mi (1:13:48 / mi) +6m 1:09:21 / mi

Praia de Cremina between Cabo da Roca and Cabo Raso lighthouses. Couldn't resist jumping out of the car for some beach time. Loved watching the surf, but annoyed by some crazy little dog that kept racing at me and jumping up.

hiking 35:04 [3] 1.88 km (18:37 / km) +61m 16:02 / km

Miscellaneious wanderings to get a good vantage point for a picture of Farol da Guia. Also found some interesting looks at rock climbers. Lovely, lovely day.
8 AM

Walking on trail 33:00 [3] 0.59 mi (55:54 / mi) +9m 53:24 / mi

Starting to join the crowds now to explore the area around Boca do Inferno (Mouth of Hell). Didn't pick a good time as it was low tide and noting going on with the surf. A bit anticlimactic, but neat area anyway. Time and distance adjusted as I didn't stop my watch before starting to drive away.

Climbing a lighthouse 9:03 [3] 0.31 km (29:35 / km)

Orienteering 27:31 [3] 2.24 km (12:18 / km)

Sprint Course around Cascais, outside of Lisbon. Great fun, and so happy that I found some maps to explore around these towns. I believe I found all of the correct locations!

4 AM

hiking 1:03:30 [3] 3.19 km (19:55 / km) +159m 15:57 / km

Up to Sanctuario de Peninha, Sintra Portugal. Lovely hike on an almost crystal clear day so the views were pretty spectacular. Checked out the hang-gliding launch site in honor of J-J and poked around a bit in the palace. Unfortunately, everything was locked up tight. Still a wonderful excursion.
6 AM

Walking on trail 2:23:16 [3] 2.74 mi (52:17 / mi) +112m 46:23 / mi

Wonderful time exploring the gardens, grounds and interior of the Palace of Monserrate. Amazingly lovely restoration of the interior and almost no one there! I am not sure why the crowds all stay in the other palaces of Sintra, but I'm not complaining. A wonderful stroll.

Walking on trail 1:15:26 [3] 1.7 mi (44:22 / mi) +80m 38:43 / mi

From my parking spot along the road, to get out of the hordes of people, around the grounds and interior of the Quinta da Regaleira, one of the famous palaces of Sintra Portugal. Very cool Poco Iniciatico. If I can figure out how, I should post a picture.

Note

Was too jet lagged to remember my watch but spent some time hiking around Cabo da Rocha, went half-way down to Praia da Ursa, and spent some time on Praia da Adraga. Wonderful way to arrive in Portugal.
