Orienteering race 2:04:26 [3] ***** 4.5 km (27:39 / km)
spiked:5/10c

COC Long Distance event. Finished 5th out of 11 with lots of other dnf's. It was so tough! Saskatchewan orienteering is quite the challenge. Real hard time with #5 when I had to bail out to the road three times before finally finding the control.

Orienteering race 1:01:51 [3] **** 2.1 km (29:27 / km)
spiked:6/10c

COC Middle Distance Championship. Finished 9th out of 16 so not the best result. It was a very hard map to interpret and we probably should have checked out the model event which might have helped. Really had trouble on the first two controls until figuring out how to read the "negative contours." And it was too hot!

Orienteering race 21:39 [3] * 2.2 km (9:50 / km)
spiked:15/15c

Canadian Orienteering Championships Sprint event at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, course 3, Finished 5th out of 15 so I was pretty pleased. Navigation went real well, just couldn't run the whole time. Don't usually like sprints because of all of the running, but I enjoyed this one. It was a beautiful campus.

walk/jog on trail 43:14 [3]

Rather usual route. Powerlines south around lake to bend and back. Some bugs, but not horrible.

Note

After a number of years without one, I signed up today for a membership at Anytime Fitness, along with Rachel and Nicole. Now I have no excuse for not working out on hot days, rainy days, freezing days, etc. If I can get the girls motivated to come along, maybe it will push me too??

walk/jog on trail 43:17 [3] 4.57 km (9:28 / km)

To the powerlines south, around the pond, up to the bend in the lines, and back. Bugs weren't great, but not bad. Went late enough to avoid most of the daytime flies, but too early for mosquitos. Too soon after dinner though...

Note

OK, let's try this again. Had it going pretty good there for a bit in early spring. New month, new half-year, o-events to train for. Let's see how long I can last...
