Orienteering 1:10:29 [3] 4.96 km (14:13 / km) +110m 12:48 / km

Sessions Woods, CT, Brown course Slow and steady as it's been a tough fall with knee and ankle problems. A miss at #4, but the rest was decent. Actually jogged in from last control and knee/ankle felt ok.

Kaylor's Knob Trail from Massanutten Overlook with Stephen Kaylor (Koehler). Wanted to do this for a long time so it was really great. Adjusted climb/distance for correct location of start of hike.

hiking 2:40:31 [3] 8.76 km (18:20 / km) +399m 14:56 / km

Shenandoah National Park, Hightop Mountain. I was planning on doing a waterfall hike since there had been so much precip lately. Unfortunately the snow/rainfall in Harrisonburg on Thursday ended up being a huge ice storm for the park and Skyline Drive was closed. Ranger suggested hiking the AT up to HIghtop, even though he said that it could be pretty hairy up towards the top. Went up the road to the parking lot, then up. It is without a doubt the most fun I've ever had getting pummeled with ice for an hour and a half, as the trees were losing their icy coating with the warming temps. Towards the top there was lots of ducking under branches, which was a pain but beautiful and almost magical (as one fellow hiker put it). Solid win!

Two Bridges Plus loop at lunch. Cold day with the wind, but was dressed pretty warm. Wish watch would get a lock when I first leave work...

Orienteering 1:16:52 [3] 4.07 km (18:53 / km)

Mount Wachusett O meet, Brown course. At least I finished. Major bobble to #1 and quite the mess to #7. Still happy I completed a course. Ended up 5th out of 17, thanks to a couple of mis-punches by some great competitors. Very surprised.

East Boston Camps - Pretty bummed about missing yet another orienteering opportunity. But at least I got out for a walk in some beautiful weather. Still, I rolled my left ankle again at 29 minutes. I wish I knew what was happening with that!
