Orienteering race 1:20:00 [4] 11.5 km (6:57 / km)

Newcastle event at Hawkemount. Really enjoyed today with a very good course from Denis and pre-printed maps with SI (which is a first for me at Newcastle). Run was ok but I was a bit disappointed that I let myself get comfortable with a certain pace instead of continually focusing on trying to keep the tempo higher through the race. Small mistakes too. Would have been happy with under 35mins. Time includes warm up, down, and collecting a few controls.

Running long 1:30:00 [3] 18.0 km (5:00 / km)

Shorter long run effort around sugarloaf. Went ok. Not very tired at the end but I just didnt go for longer for some reason. Got interrogated about this too from mum...once she woke up from her morning nap recovering from her 5k.

Running 1:00:00 [5] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)

Ints with Macey at King Edward for the last time in a while. Super day for it too. Appreciated the view a bit afterwards too. Just a shorter session but was still very tough. Had a pretty good pace from running them all together. Also a bit shocked to see a raunchy photo shoot going on behind one of the buildings at the top of the park!

Running 1:00:00 [3] 11.5 km (5:13 / km)

Around walka. Was gonna do a bit longer but had this really strange wave of dizziness hit me after 55mins so finished not long after that. Fine other than that. Might be a little tired after the races though.

Note
(rest day)

Long trip home after an Easter Im pretty keen to forget.
Was just way off the pace in all of the races. Clearly not fast enough and way too many mistakes which Im really disappointed with because I would like to think Im usually pretty decent technically. Cant believe how far behind Id gotten after SA even though I thought my training had been pretty good lately and the races there went well.
Especially pissed off with my effort on the long day. There would have been at least 10 controls I missed in the circle, but even without that I still wasnt even close. 19mins behind Craney and more than 10 after Lachy!!!
Only positive I can think of is that I handled the weekend as a whole a lot better than last year. I remember I could barely walk after 4 competitions in a row in QLD, but my legs held up well over the weekend this time. Middle distance day was really fun too.
