Orienteering - Int. race (OO Cup - Day 5) 1:03:56 intensity: (2 @1) + (21 @2) + (4:12 @3) + (42:09 @4) + (17:12 @5) 6.66 km (9:36 / km) +302m 7:50 / km

Much better run today, my best of the 5 days I think. Pushed OK, but not too hard. Kept the pace up (my pace) right to the end. Best orienteering day as well with few mistakes (just small things really)

5.2 km, 215 m climb, 19 c - I was 21st, 20m 52 behind. I would love to know what the guy who won was eating. His winning margin was bloody unbelievable.

Oh, well, 5 days gone - fun was had but not in huge quantities. My fitness levels just did not allow it. Next year I promise to be fitter.

Out of the 47 starters during the 5 days, I finished up 17th. (Gert was 16th).

Orienteering - Int. race (OO Cup - Day 4) 1:32:28 intensity: (52 @1) + (37 @2) + (14:06 @3) + (45:31 @4) + (31:22 @5) ***** 7.12 km (12:59 / km) +406m 10:06 / km

This would have been my best day if it hadn't been for 4 (stupidity) and 8 (running with women). 14 was a bad one but all my fault and nothing out of the ordinary. Very very tired again at the end of the day, I had over 31 minutes in the HR red zone.

Course was 5.3 km with 370 m Climb. 16 c - I was 17th, 40m 08 behind.

In light of the mistakes, I was happy with this.

Orienteering - Int. race (OO Cup - Day 3) 37:40 intensity: (6 @1) + (22 @2) + (3:43 @3) + (12:32 @4) + (20:57 @5) **** 3.73 km (10:07 / km) +137m 8:32 / km

Actually, I find it really funny. On getting back from this event I thought I had done quite OK, but after analysing the race and each control, I've realised how bad I was here. I think I was just trying too hard. Good lesson in that, rather slow down by a little bit and save time that way.

Course was 3.1 km with 125 m Climb, 13 c and I was 11th (my best result) - still 12m 05 behind - LOL!

Shame that I wasn't able to do more.

Orienteering - Int. race (OO Cup - Day 2) 1:48:52 intensity: (8 @1) + (35 @2) + (16:04 @3) + (1:16:56 @4) + (15:09 @5) **** 8.88 km (12:16 / km) +445m 9:48 / km

Black day for me. Complete exhaustion set in early in the race causing many mistakes and slow going.

Course was 7,1 km long with 270 m Climb - I was 26th out of 47 (43 starts) - 45m 30 behind - certainly my worst day (physically).

The run-ability was very low here but the map was nice. Lovely area.

Orienteering - Int. race (OO Cup - Day 1) 1:06:52 intensity: (9:32 @3) + (46:52 @4) + (10:28 @5) **** 6.45 km (10:22 / km) +304m 8:23 / km

First day of the OO Cup. We had to hike 2km and 500 hm just to get it the start, so was tired before we started. Weather was cool - good for running.

5,4 km, 285 m Climb, 47 starters - 14th (22m11s behind)

Tried to start controlled and slow, but realised there was a lot to learn about the mapping and the maps before I got to one. I was mostly happy with my run, where my first major mistake came at control 7 and then 9, before twisting the ankle on the way to 13, which threw 13 and 14 for me. Started getting really exhausted about between 13 - 14. Dodgy route choice to 16 and then some silly mistakes at the end (Tiredness) saw me loose quite a bit of time.

Not a bad start though, orienteering was just extremely shaky.
