Wu. Cut short by paranoia about 1st leg arriving but did get a couple drills done. Felt pretty decent considering its a wu.

Comrie relays leg 2 -2nd team overall.

Mixed feelings about this one. Put in the work and made up a place but also felt like it should have been better. It was going fine up the initial climb to the ridge and reeled in my target before the first cp. However, classic parallel/navigation off the wrong feature error incurred. The route was actually really simple, just mucked up out of nerves and overthinking mucking up a bit like doing a light green course. Anyway, my next target was now well out of reach so just juddered down the descent and then ground out the most miserable section of road running in a long time. Only 1km but had absolutely nothing for it, pushing hard and hr at max and was barely scraping below 5min/km on flat road.

Took the team from either 6th to 5th or 5th to 4th, either way left most of the heavy lifting for Pete and Jespie later on. The biggest sting in the tail is that we lost the whole 42km relay by 25 seconds so I’ll be up all night questioning if it was me that lost it.

Felt pretty good physically, think I’ve left most of the burden from last Saturday behind but by no means fresh.

Shake, if I even have anything to shake off. Including two lil efforts, one slightly uphill to the church and one on the flat immediately after. Meant to be easy apart from that but not very disciplined with the hr due to the heat.

Plan for tomorrow is to push to race pace unless anything feels majorly wrong. Keep things moving uphill but make sure I have enough gas for the downs where I reckon ill make the most progress.

Running 18:09 [3] 4.11 km (4:25 / km)
ahr:147 max:167 shoes: SalmonSpeedX6

Aerobic/mid intensity job around the church and park. Felt pretty good, chucked in 2x15s strides and got up to 3:30s which would have been physically impossible a few days ago. Kept things short but focused to not knacker myself out too much.

Stretching 10:00 [0]

New most painful spot is the outside thighs on both sides - very tight.

Running 30:08 [2] 6.24 km (4:50 / km) +47m 4:39 / km
ahr:134 max:157 shoes: SalmonSpeedX6

Easy Clune n back. Feeling pretty much normal now although extremely unfit. Right knee was niggling a bit afterwards. Might have to do some training here at some point, went into a new section and actually looks fairly peng.

Stretching 10:00 [0]

Mostly foam rolling, most painful parts are the tops of my calfs and bottom of my quads.

Running 20:20 [2] 4.09 km (4:58 / km) +31m 4:47 / km
ahr:129 max:155 shoes: SalmonSpeedX6

Recovery/tester thing up the the school woods.

Feeling mostly as expected with very dead legs and a bit of jankiness with the right knee. Doesn’t quite move as happily as I’d like but nothing to write home about, certainly usable. The right foot is also quite tender along the outside edge and has the same slightly off feeling.

Not quite sure how I’m going to bring it all together for Sunday but for the time being it’ll be foam rolling and easy/ minimum runs.

Also ran with the dog, went well enough but she runs just behind me so slightly frustrating having to crane my neck around to make sure she’s with me every 10 seconds.

Road Cycling 7:35 [2] 2.49 km (19.7 kph) +7m
shoes: Dr Dew

bb now mostly doing its job without a hideous rattling although there’s still progress to be made on the noise pollution front. Might have to wrangle up some more parts as the either the icy smooth tyres or icy smooth pedals are gonna be the death of me.

Tuesday Aug 29 #

Road Cycling 48:40 [2] 22.77 km (28.1 kph) +131m
ahr:138 max:165 shoes: Coppi

Banchory and back commuting. Helping hand on the way in and devastating headwind on the way back. Legs again not feeling as bad as anticipated but didn’t push so who knows how things really are. Not chancing DR tonight, maybe small run tomorrow. Trying hard not to get training FOMO as I know I’ve got a valid excuse to not be running but still feels like I’m skiving somehow.
