Up to Mountain Ranch to spectate at the Wlelh MTB champs. Very stiff getting going and didn't exactly get speedy. Very humid - sweating for ages after running even though I was hardly moving.

Run - Trail 17:15 intensity: (17 @1) + (5:05 @2) + (1:58 @3) + (8:27 @4) + (1:28 @5) 2.5 km (6:54 / km) +13m 6:43 / km

Back from Mountain Ranch. Nice to watch something different and the track looked like it had some fun bits. Excellent ride from Clare to finish second.

Bike - Gravel 33:13 intensity: (9 @0) + (3:30 @1) + (11:03 @2) + (18:29 @3) + (2 @4) 12.33 km (2:42 / km) +19m 2:40 / km
ahr:127 max:145

Down to Central Station to meet Mark. Brakes got worse and worse - to the point I was considering going home.

Bike - Gravel 4:27:40 intensity: (55 @0) + (42:15 @1) + (1:47:36 @2) + (1:33:25 @3) + (22:20 @4) + (1:09 @5) 71.22 km (3:45 / km) +1243m 3:27 / km

Really good gravel ride with Mark from Bridgend via Afan and a couple of hills. Had to stop to force my callipers apart shortly after starting, which improved things immensely, but kept use of the brakes as light as I could. This worked until we got to the Afan Mtb trails. Found a fun blue route to descend, which wasn't to bad on hard bald tyres and no suspension - fixed brakes and less tyre pressure and it was have been epic. Missed the Afan cafe but fortunately found a great pub in the old station in Cymmer.

Big climb after a big meal on a very unofficial but very nice track up to the top of Werfa windfarm. Some easy roads and another climb over to Clydach where the descent was not gravel bike friendly -very rocky track. Easy ride back from there along the cycle trails with a couple of more stops to release my front brakes. Excellent day out.

Up to climbing on the gravel bike - checking to see how good/bad the brake rub is.

Climbing 40:00 [3]
(injured)

Spot with Matt W. Not as bad as I had feared, but upper body and hand strength still pretty rubbish. Nice to catch up with matt after quite a while.
8 PM

Bike - Gravel 12:05 intensity: (5:13 @1) + (6:52 @2) 4.36 km (2:46 / km)
ahr:115 max:128

Back from climbing. Had lights but no high viz - completely out of practice for cycling in the dark. Brakes seem okay.

Hills in Castell Coch with Mark and Rcro. Was sent to the cleaner by both of them but was also a whole lot better than the past couple of sessions, and although I wasn't moving very quickly, I was at least moving well. As a result I enjoyed this a lot more! Barriers gone up all over the higher bit of the woods so the removal of the rest of the larch must be starting soon.

Note

Usual mid-week motivation slump to get out, justified to myself by wanting to give my quads a rest after yesterday.

MDC run on Mynydd Eglwysilan. Amazing evening and stunning sunset, made it a joy to be out. Legs took ages to loosen out (maybe 40 minutes0 but then had a good spell where I actually felt good running, which hasn't happened for a few week. Hope that that's the extra massage working.

Eventually got my act together and joined FVO pilates/circuits again. Not as hard as I was expecting but I'm sure that I'll be a little achy tomorrow.
