A bit slow to get started this morning.

Run - Orienteering race 43:15 intensity: (9 @0) + (18 @1) + (19 @2) + (5:46 @3) + (34:36 @4) + (2:07 @5) 8.0 km (5:24 / km) +24m 5:20 / km

MOC middle. A little more interesting but basically the same stuff but with more controls. Was happy enough with the pace but not by losing 1.30 on a somewhat vague control - 1.25m form lines are hard to see in bracken and brashings... Right towards the end of the field again though, maybe it's time to start acting my age?

Slow warm up. Too much ahead today...

Run - Orienteering race 2:02:50 [4] 18.7 km (6:34 / km)

MOC long distance. Properly long, but not very interesting, ran straight for just about everything and my only real time loss (1.30) was due to not being able to see a control behind a bush. Would have liked to break 2 hours but wasn't prepared to suffer for it, so was happy running at a steady but not hard pace, last thirty minutes were still tough enough though.

Run - Orienteering 31:09 intensity: (40 @0) + (12:15 @1) + (15:59 @2) + (1:56 @3) + (19 @4) 4.48 km (6:57 / km) +21m 6:48 / km

Run with Roz around a bit of one of the models maps. Would have been more only we were late; they'd taken the signs down and we got lost. Ended up running randomly in the woods until we found somewhere we recognised! Super open wooded dunes with lots of subtle detail and little else. Nice to tun in, not my cup of tea to race in.

A small relay somewhere on the Portuguese coast, arrived a bit late so Dooby was under pressure to make the start. Running second I had enough time but I couldn't find any life in my legs and never made it up to race pace. Forest was quite scrubby but very fast and vague, not really to my liking. Not looking forward to nearly 3 times this on Saturday...

Run around some forest of national importance somewhere in the middle of Portugal, nice place, big monastery in the middle, loads of little ruins and some big hills. Beautiful evening and a setting sun made up for my very heavy legs, was joined by Dooby, Mushypea and Mr Rocks.

POM Day 4, Long. Chasing start if you were within an hour of the leaders, a mass start an hour after the first start if you weren't. I was 59.13 behind... Was caught by a train of French, Danes and Norwegians at the first butterfly, had a few to work with until the next split and then was pretty much on my own the the next hour. Terrain was a right mixture of open fast granite and gullies full of brambles. Got stuck a few times but everyone did, didn't get lost at all though so much happier with today (no strength on the hills though). Very pleased to be 11 seconds down on OJ!

POM Day 3. WRE Middle distance. Lovely area, fast but with lots of rock detail and limited visibility. Unfortunately I'm not up to race pace and made many unnecessary mistakes, losing over 4 minutes in total. disappointing but very much fun. Also got a bit of sunburn!
