12 PM

Run - Trail warm up/down 10:00 [2] 1.2 km (8:20 / km) +50m 6:54 / km
shoes: Jalas 2010

Jog to start, a few strides and a trot with Toni, not too much as it’s a long enough race.
1 PM

Run - Orienteering race 1:37:17 [5] *** 14.3 km (6:48 / km) +420m 5:56 / km
spiked:27/33c shoes: Jalas 2010

BOC classic, Wharncliffe & Greno. Was expecting rocky overgrown woods but actually found it fast and runnable. Had a somewhat strange race, didn't feel like I was running hard but couldn't run any harder, and didn’t feel tired at the end but again couldn't push any more. Odd. Was at least running though and was surprised at how runnable it was and how few noticeable hills there were. Navigationally was similar, never got lost but was scrappy it too many places, quite a few 20-40 second mistakes but nothing more. Enjoyed it though and the map and courses were excellent - and nice to have a 1:15k with a real print on real paper.

Collecting controls in the north part of Greno.

Note

Another day of lethargicness, no motivation at all to do anything. Realised I often feel like this after IOC, probably because it’s the first target of the season. A few days rest will do no harm but will hopefully find my mo-jo soon.

Note

Didn't feel like running and couldn't make myself get out.

Note
(rest day)

Didn't really need a rest but there's no point in being tired with the amount of events over the next few weeks. Good geeking session run by Ralph at SYO Club Night in the evening.

1 PM

Run - Trail 39:20 [3] 8.2 km (4:48 / km) +80m 4:34 / km
shoes: NB MT572BY

Steady up the parks at lunch time. Haven’t done this for so long it’s embarrassing. Stiff after drills (been too long – good job I didn’t do circuits as well!).
You could pretty much see the undergrowth growing after last nights deluge and today’s mild temperature.

5 PM

Run - Road 28:00 [2] 4.7 km (5:57 / km) +100m 5:23 / km
shoes: Asics Gel GT 1120 07

Run up to Drills in Bole Hill Park. Because I’m special I left half an hour early. It’s not like I wasn’t doing a perfectly good job of wasting the day until this point… Back home after.
6 PM

Run - Trail 37:00 [2] 7.0 km (5:17 / km) +240m 4:31 / km
shoes: Asics Gel GT 1120 07

Enforced longer warm up… Dropped down into Rivelin and ran as far as the foot bridge after the ponds, from there straight up to Bell Hag. Not done that before and I think I know why. Sweat was pouring off me. Still not feeling right in the leg department.

Run - Drills 50:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 1120 07

Drills at Bole Hill with some of the Sheffield gang. Lacked atmosphere without Mrs C leading, bur a fairly standard session otherwise.

10 AM

Run - Trail 21:00 [1] 6.3 km (3:20 / km) +140m 3:00 / km
shoes: Jalas 2010

Loooong jog to the start with the ShUOC boys (and Laura).
11 AM

Run - Orienteering 59:00 intensity: (18:00 @2) + (41:00 @3) 6.3 km (9:22 / km) +110m 8:37 / km
shoes: Jalas 2010

Training on the BOC model map. It was awful! The map that is, not the terrain, (which was a little overgrown and stony, but better than I was expecting). I trust OJ to have made sure that the actual map isn’t like this though. Did a loop through all the model event control sites (only tapes out) and then a shortened course of the far north section at 1:15k. Took it easy, but it was well warm and muggy out.
