Bike - Mountain 2:15:00 [2] 25.5 km (5:18 / km)

Cracking day and a very enjoyable and social ride; headed out to Greno, Wharncliffe and Beeley with Danger and Fluceluce. Danger was having major bike issues (size, saddle, brakes, gears...) so plenty of stopping which was a good thing as I wasn't feeling like doing anything with much intensity. Lucy did an awesome over the handlebars fall which I attempted to copy myself and appear to have landed entirely on my little finger which now has a bent and nicely coloured nail. All good fun.

Run - Orienteering 20:00 [1] **** 2.2 km (9:05 / km) +40m 8:20 / km

Hanging controls for the Burbage Mines (or Ringinlow Quarries if you're Mr Tett) sprint event. Event went well and had just about the right amount of runners to be able to cope with starting and finishing everyone (thanks to help from zizi), in fact a very good turnout for a training event with about 30. Cold wind but warm in the sun and shelter and I think everyone had fun (the worst thing about planning an event is not being able to run when everyone else is having fun). Results should be on the ShUOC page soon.

Run - Trail 1:05:20 [3] 12.7 km (5:09 / km) +180m 4:48 / km
shoes: Asics Gel Enduro 3

Loop around the edge of Burbage with Camel, Danger and CFD. Fierce windy and cold when running into it, but very hot when in some shelter. Saw Stuart, Callum and Rach over near the Foxhouse which I think is the first group of runners that I've run into that I know in 2.5 years of running in the Peaks. Wanted to run today but legs weren't so keen, particularly on hills, so it ended up being a good but steady pace. Danger's legs were less happy than mine.

Run - Trail 1:06:20 [3] 13.4 km (4:57 / km) +230m 4:34 / km

Rivelin Dam: Haven't done this old favourite in ages, so it nice to have time to do it. Muddy and slippery but not very wet and surprised to be several minutes quicker than I would have expected. Felt bad for the first half but then at the half way point it felt like I'd lost half my weight and I just floated back at a comfortable but brisk pace. Why can't all running feel like this?

Strength exercises 25:00 [3]

Back to feeling bad and a bit dead for this, but I haven't been doing them much recently so what can I expect?

Note
(rest day)

Looooong day at work and quads still pretty tired from yesterday.

Run - Road 1:45:00 [3] 22.0 km (4:46 / km) +350m 4:25 / km
shoes: Asics 2120

Sportmans Inn run around Sheffield; visiting the Sportman Inns in Stannington, Pitsmoor, Bramall Lane and Crosspool, starting and finishing at the latter. Not up for running hard (which was a good choice as I got pretty tired as it was) so had a very enjoyable and social run with zizi. Nice to do something completely different and go to some odd places, but wouldn't want to spend this much time on tarmac very often. Time and distance include run to from start/finish, route itself was about 18.7km with 280m.

Was a bit conservative with my eating expectations afterwards at the Crosspool Tavern and didn't help myself to quite enough food, still if I want to remain a lean mean racing machine...

Run - Road 41:00 [2] 7.3 km (5:37 / km) +150m 5:06 / km
shoes: Asics 2120

Down to Kaye place, along to the bottom of Walkley Bank for the hill session and then back nice and slowly.

Run - Intervals 26:00 [5] 6.0 km (4:20 / km)
shoes: Asics 2120

Hills session from Rivelin Valley Road up Walkley Bank, about 750m with 55m climb; 500m to the top, turned and ran half way down at 90%. Finished the first two slightly high so times a bit short: 3.03, 3.11, 3.26, 3.25, 3.26 & 3.24. Tired tonight and it was a fight to keep going, especially as there was never any real rest. Cfd was flying but the rest of the small group that was out tonight seemed to be suffering as much as I was.

Circuits 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 1120 07

Felt okay but body was tired, easy session. Was going well in the bench hops but the music song changed key when I was at 69 and I thought it had finished. Would have broken 80 easy ;)

Warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Run - Road 38:00 [2] 8.0 mi (4:45 / mi) +145m 4:30 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel GT 1120 07

Cold evening so glad to be indoors for circuits, this got me warmed up enough to enjoy an easy jog along Fulwood road with The Legend as a warm down. Legs a little tired but still wanting to run. Good sign.
