Run from Nebias to Puivert via the Le Labyrinthe. Got very confused half way around the labyrinthine as I thought the loop went anti-clockwise. Overcast as only 20 odd desgrees today made for nice running conditions and the body was much more appreciative. Enjoyed this.

Loop in the Beacons with Mark and Clare, a grand day out indeed and a route that has been on my list since I moved here. Lucky that the rain cleared just as we started, it was pretty warm and pace was nice and easy. Bad start with a flat tired that needed fixing and then got a puncture on the descent from the gap (left my tools in the car so grateful that Mark had a spare tube). First proper descent on the full-sus and what a different it is, the bigger wheels and suspension travel take most of the skill out of descending. Stop in Talybont for panini and chips, most good! Fun descent off Merthyr Common to finish.

Damp evening and was going to house bound myself again but Oli messaged looking for company. First time I've run with him since the start of the year so good to see him properly. Not sure how many more runs I'll get the chance to do with him in the near future as his baby is now only a week away. legs very tired and stiff, so appreciated the easy pace.

MDC run! Test run with Covid measures including everyone carrying their own face covering, gloves and first aid kit as well as emergency contact details. Not actually too much faff and would have most of it with my anyway. Legs felt pretty good for the first time in ages and was able to push up to about 90% effort before they started getting a bit tight. Nice group of 6 in the unsteady group meaning that we kept moving well. Good to be back, even if not quite back to normal!

Did a loop along the old coast path route at the eastern end and found plenty of bonus nettles! Warmer than I was expecting.

Up Pen Y Fan from the north with Cara, Matt, Mark B and of course Martyn, who was on his 13th rep of 16 to do an Everest (he finished at 01:30 after 22 hours). Always a tough start as the climb starts right away, we were only walking but struggled to keep up with Martyn! Beautiful evening and the hills looked amazing in the setting sunlight. Fun descent down a different route with Matt. Legs tired when effort was required, but good otherwise and enjoying being out.

Long run with Matt and Martyn around the Wales Coast Path from Pembroke to Freshwater East, stating with a cut across between the two. A few wobbles early on as had no map and the coast path signing wasn't great (worked out well though as the extra distance made the run break 40 miles).

Okay for the first few hours bit started feeling tired quite quickly there after and my right hip started bothering me. Stopped for lunch in the shade and felt better after. Decided on the extra loop around the NW headland (could have cut 11km off here) and happy to find the cafe open on the beach at the end. Had and ice-cream and apple juice, which proved to be a mistake as I started feeling quite ill after that. A few short but steep climbs before Freshwater West overheated me (temperature in low 20's) and had to lie in a pool to cool down.

For the first time ever running I was feeling to rough to eat, but kept sipping at my water, wasn't enough though as I felt worse and worse over the next 20km. Had to keep stopping (just too hot and unable to cool down) but found that running was easier than walking (hip didn't like the latter).

Saved by a cold water tap at Broadhaven South, which was the best thing I've had in a while. Cooled the body and drunk quite a bit. The struggled on to Barafundle, when we had a quick swim. This really seamed to do the business, cooled me right down and loosened my hip out, and I felt better for the last 10km than I did at any other point of the run!

First proper long run, had my doubt that I was enjoying it from 37km to 57km, but ended feeling positive. The boys had no issues, but do ultras so are used to the distance. Think I'd have been fine had it not been so hot and my hip wasn't at me. Grand day out.

From Draethen with Martyn, Matt and Richard. Surprisingly nice day. Worked quite hard on the hill up Machen (but not moving all that fast), then a quick km after we escaped the brambles in Park Woods. Thereafter really struggled to get home and was wiped after, far more so than I should be after a run of this pace. Enjoyed it though.

Exploring the lanes north of Eglwysilan, not a an area that you can find yourself in by accident, but nice lanes for cycling, though plenty of hills. Also cycled past the entrance to the very angry and aggressive owner that I bumped into a few months ago and noticed that they had put up lots of signs about rules and keeping your distance during Covid, but it didn't say you couldn't use the right of way! Wasn't about to do that though. Thought I was in for a soaking, but actually just got a bit damp and thankfully avoided the afternoon rain.
