Run - Orienteering race 1:38:50 [5] 15.6 km (6:20 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

WOC selection races and UK cup final. Classic. Creag Leach near Inverness. Lovely open forest with a ,ot of small contour detail. To visable and too many tracks to be difficult. Had a good steady run with only one poor route choice error despiter feeling awful for the first km. Very happy with the way I ran and my navigation but was hoping to finish a bit higher (18th I think).

Run - Orienteering race 17:55 [5] 3.0 km (5:58 / km)
shoes: Inov8

WOC selection races and UK cup final. Sprint. Stirling university. Knew the start was going to be the trickiest area but still amnaged to make two duff route choices. Much better area than I was expecting for a sprint, made it to about half way before legs had had enough of a faster than normal pace. Finished 19th which I guess was fare enough as it's not my fav type of oing.

Run - Road 36:00 [2]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110

Rivelin and down to Hillsborough and the long climb back up. Took ages to get going - yesterday was a surprise ot the legs. Called in to Duncombe to see if they had mt post - its all been binned.

Run - Orienteering race 11:30 [5] 1.4 km (8:13 / km)
shoes: Inov8

Two tiny sprint races around Ecclesfield school. Both took 5.45, for .8km and .6km (lots of runnning a long way around buildinds). Felt slow (and was) in the first, got a bit better in the second but still have no pace for this kind of orienteering. Was fun though.

Run - Trail 1:01:00 [3]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110

Straight down to Rivelin, up to the wee bridge and then an exrtra loop across to the steep hill to the west on the way up the hill. Felt fairly good but was running out of energy quickly - need to do some more long runs.
Paths all washed away along the river, but nothing major - dissapointing really!

Note

Right minging today, never stopped lashing rain. Apparently the wettest day ever in Sheffiled. Felt like a normal summer day in Ireland. Too much of a Jessy to make it out for a run though.

Bike - Mountain race 1:00:00 [5] 8.9 km (6:44 / km) +530m 5:12 / km

MBO Bristish champs middle, Cannock. Much the same as yesterday. Covered a lot of the same area but stayed in the steeper section. Enjoyable but very tough, again much warmer than expecting. Finished 6th, 8 minutes down on Phil Winskill.

Bike - Mountain warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Cycle to/from start/finish with Faye, very slow but did a lot of good.

Bike - Mountain race 1:38:00 [5] 16.5 km (5:56 / km) +750m 4:50 / km

MBO British champs in Cannock. Warm day but wet tracks. Haven't been on a bike enough, had no power, but kept a decent enough pace, finished 5th about 12 minutes down on Steve Heading. Fun, but well tired and thirsty at finish. Need to do more of these to get better.

Thursday Jun 21, 2007 #

Run - Trail 58:00 [2]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110

Straight down to Rivelin, along to the wee brifge and straight up. Felt something awful, tummy not settled all week and wasn't up for it today either. Legs eventually joined in about half way but still had no strength.
First decent run ifrom here in over a month, everything has gone bananas, vegetation everywhere and a lot of it not friendly.

Bike - Mountain 1:10:00 [3]

Dusted off the mountain bike and took it out for a spin to see if all the important bits are still working. They are. Went out to Warrencliff (?), haven't been there since a national event about 12 years ago. Worth more investigation, especially on a bike. Anyone around here know the best cycling trails there and would like to show me?
Good climb up the hill from Hillborough to finish.

Note

Had a 'do nothing' day and feel worse for it...

Sunday Jun 17, 2007 #

Bike - Road 1:23:00 [3]

Thought it about time I started using the bikes, especially if I want to do the MBO events in a few weeks. Felt tired, hungry and thirsty after a poor nights sleeping and feeding so took it easy. Up the A57 to Ladybower and back via Stanage and Fulwood. Cracking day to be out although a little windy. Back and butt now not the best.

Run - Trail 38:00 [2]

Really had to force myself to gt out today, tired from long days and not enough sleep last week. Dropped down into Rivelin and back up the easiest way I could find. Felt flat but did improve a bit once warm. Glad I made the effort. Water everywhere, must have rained in the period that I've been away...

Note

Train back to Paris, walked from Waterloo to Victoria but aside from that spent the rest of the day on my butt.

Thursday Jun 14, 2007 #

Note

Went to look at a Library and an old railway line that had been converted into a dead nice park with Andy. Spent about 4 hours walking around and then another two walking along the Seine in the evening. Well glad to get on the metro.

Run - Road 1:15:00 [3]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110

Went on a mission to explore a bit of Paris. Found a great forest/park and then headed to ther Seine and over to La Defence to have a poke around before heading back up along the river. Dead humid and hot starting so it was great to get caught in the middle of a thunder storm. As well as clearing the heat it it alos helped to get rid of some of the smell of wee.

Note

Versailles today. What an AWFUL lot of high straight hedges and broken water features and not a lot else. Worth seeing but have no desire to go back.

Tuesday Jun 12, 2007 #

Note

Another day wandering Paris parks. Did Parc Andre Citroen (quite interesting) and walked along the river to the Eiffel Tower and a neat museum garden and living wall near there. Tired feet from pavement pounding and very hungry, so didn't have the motoviation to head for a run.

Monday Jun 11, 2007 #

Note

Parc la Villette and around. Very interesting day and a good mix of Landscape styles to look at. On our feet for about 6 hours so tired even though we probably only walked less than 10 miles.

Sunday Jun 10, 2007 #

Run - Road 32:45 [2]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110

Just had enough time to squash a quick run in. Field trip to Paris, staying in a hostel near the river, so headed for a trot with Mat along it. Felt very hot and humid so was well sticky even thought we were only jogging. Everywhere smelt of wee and poo, doing it in public seams to be a favoured pastime in the city.

Run - Orienteering race 1:04:00 [5] 7.3 km (8:46 / km) +540m 6:24 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

Shamrock Day 3, Cobduff. Again had a good run until torwards the end. Have to impove concentration when tired. Without RobB threre was no competition so had no pressure. Climb not as bad as I was expecting but still some un-necessary legs straight up and down hills. Another stunning day. What a weekend, can't wait until the next one.

Run - Orienteering race 1:15:30 [5] 10.5 km (7:11 / km) +330m 6:13 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

What a difference to yesterday, the sun was splitting the rocks all day and I even made it into the Atlantic (which doesn't happen very often!). Estended part of yesterdas area, again very enjoyable but a lot easier without the mist. Orienteered well for about 9.5km and then put the brain away. Lost about 4 minutes over the last part of the course so was bit annoyed with myself. RobB had a worse day so I have a four minute lead tomorrow, although he has to run early as he has a flight to catch.

Run - Orienteering race 50:00 [5] *****
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

Shamrock Day 1. Wet and misty with low visibility. Made a stupid 1 minutes mistake but was othwise fairly happy with navigation but never felt good running. RobB beat me by 8 seconds. Will have to sort him out tomorrow! Great area, good courses and the map was up to standard. What a way to start the weekend.

Bike - Road 1:00:00 [2]

Borrowed Janines road bike and did a loop from Kenmare out torwards Sneam and up some side roads to Molls Gap. Easy pace a beautiful day. Cycled with Jase and Cath, very enjoyable.
