Circuits 45:00 [4]

Well tired this evening, none of my body was up for it. Took it as easy as I could without copping out. Lovely day but spent all of it in the studio - this weather better last past the end of term...

Warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Sunday Apr 29, 2007 #

Run - Orienteering race 32:35 [5] ***** 4.8 km (6:47 / km) +150m 5:52 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

IOC short. Lovely area and another great day and courses. As per yesterday, the map had plenty of quite serious errors, but thankfully I didn't get too caught out by them. Not quite so happy in the leg department, my calfs were tired from the rough ground yesterday and I felt as if I had no strenght on the rough middle half today. Also made a 1.15 mistake on the long leg and lost another .45 on getting bad running through the thick bits of trees on 8. Ran much better at the beginning and end section of the course. Won again but shouldn't have with a run like that, Niall was a happy second. Toes now really sore, should have worn my old pair of shoes.

Warm up/down 15:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

Warmed up okay but failed on much more than a walk to warm down - toes were hurting though.

Run - Orienteering race 1:13:05 [5] ***** 9.9 km (7:23 / km) +510m 5:52 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

IOC 2007. Very short course but some dog rough terrain in parts, fast (but not very often flat) in others. Had a very clean run, just getting the end of the route choice of the long leg wrong (played safe, lost best part of a minute, but don't know how). Ran fairly well but never felt strong, but was that kind of terrain. Not happy in new shoes, they were far too lose and I didn't have any confidence in desending. Toes alos sore. Won by a decent margine from Boyzone, who had an excellent run to finish second. Smashing day, good course and moslty a good area - some seriously dodgy mapping in parts though.

Run - Road 36:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 2100

Trail and roads along Rivelin and back through Ranmoor. Had to know how you feel when you take it easy but think I have a bit of energy saved up for the weekend.

Run - Orienteering race 28:30 [3] ***
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

Spring Cup 2. Greno woods. Took it very handy and hardly got out of breath (aside from the last climb up to the finish). Felt quite good and was happy to trot around. Lost a bit of time looking for a few pits in the middle of nowhere, but an enjoyable wee run on the whole. Ran in new VJ falcons, very comfortable, so should be no problem for the weekend.

Run - Trail 36:20 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 2100

Slow run down into Rivelin and explored a bit. Founa whole section of wod and a graveyrad that I didn't know existed beyond Google. Steep, but where around here isn't. Tired legs, about the hardest weeks training that I've done this year!

Circuits 45:00 [4]

Tired tonight, especially on the exercise that need cardo or shoulder strenght. Took it about as easy as one can with circuits!

Warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Run - Road 30:00 [2]

Slow run along the only flat road around (Fulwood) after circuits. Trotted along nicely as long as no extra energy was required.

Sunday Apr 22, 2007 #

Run - Orienteering race 1:11:00 [4] *** 12.2 km (5:49 / km) +315m 5:09 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons

Badge event, had nothing in my legs right from the start so just kept at a steady pace and avoided mistakes. Nice wood for a run around, open and lots of bluebells. Map not so hot, lots of little things wrong with it. Another nice day, not sunnt but dead warm - couldn't stop sweating.

Warm up/down warm up/down 10:00 [2]

Felt stiff starting so didn't get warmed up enough and was tired finishing so didn't do enough then either. Easy week needed.

Saturday Apr 21, 2007 #

Run - Trail 1:17:20 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 2100

New route staying high along Rivelin, out to the conduit to Wyming Brook and back along hte side of Rivelin. Nice loop, mostly trails and no big hills. As expected, my legs were a bit soft to start with but were happy enough to jog along at an easy pace.

Bike - Road 1:20:00 [3]

First time on the road bike since September. Had a wonderful cycle, must get out more. Went up the A57 to the end of Stanage and then turned right, following the lanes back to the north. Felt a bit wobbly and legs will feel a bit soft and back will ache tomorrow.

Run - Trail 1:08:50 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 2100

Rivelin clockwise and back up the bridleway. Quads were dead for the first half but felt a bit better later on, hurting a bit from yesterdays hills and last weeks lack of use. Ground dry and hard, no rain for weeks, another beautiful day to be out.

Run - Orienteering 32:20 [5] **
shoes: Asics Gel GT 2100

First Spring cup event in Rivelin. Seamed to go up hill for the whole course! Splendid evening (aside from a lady who didn't take kindly to us jumping walls and fightening her horses). Leg well tired, mostly due to the fact that they've fotgotten what hills are as it's been so long since they've seen any... Ran ok otherwise but didn't kill myself.

Note

Awesome day, classes moved to give time to work on assignments. Ended up doing nothing, went to a show and on to pub quiz - beginning to feel a bit guilty about the lack of training over the past week...

Monday Apr 16, 2007 #

Note

Got up early again but walked around Canterbury with JY instead of running. Lovely town, but need to do some exercise sometime soon. Back home quite late and very hungry.

Sunday Apr 15, 2007 #

Run - Road 43:15 [3]

On field trip in Canterburg so ran first thing at 7.15. Body didn't enjoy the experience so struggle the entire time. Smashing morning though.

Saturday Apr 14, 2007 #

Note
(rest day)

Up early and on the move all day for a field trip down to London and Kent. No time for a run.

Tied to finish an assignement so put mu head down. Should have run but never got around to it...

Thursday Apr 12, 2007 #

Run - Trail 41:45 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 2100

Clockwise route around Rivelin with Shane. Quads felt completely dead, had zero energy, so it turned out to be more of a slow recovery run. Smashing day for a run though.

Wednesday Apr 11, 2007 #

Note
(rest day)

Went to Chatsworth and it was so nice sitting in the sun that the sprint race this evening was forgotten about...

Run Recovery 38:05 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 2100

Run with Shane down into Rivelin and back. Tired so ran slow but felt quite good, hills were easy enough taken slowly but my heart didn't want a work out.

Run - Orienteering race 28:08 [5] *** 5.1 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcons

JK Relays. Ran for Shuoc with John R, Little Rob, Me and OJ. John missed a control and had a poor run, Rob didn't do great either so I didn't have anything to chase as we were well down. had a steady but unspectular run. Interesting old arm area, kept you thinking but wasn't difficult. Don't know how OJ ran on the last leg but I don't think that we would have been higher than 8th.

Run - Orienteering race 1:41:54 [5] *** 15.9 km (6:25 / km) +640m 5:20 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons

JK Day 2. Long classic, though not as tough as i was expecting. Course started out in a steep hilly section but got much flatter for the end. Didn't feel as if I had any speed at any time during the run so again was surprised to finish 8th (also overall). Again the map had quite a few holes in it where the mapping wasn't up to standard, escpecially ditches and depressions. Didn't lose much time, just a few misses right at the end when the controls were hidden in pits. Well tired at the end but not hurting.

shoes: VJ Falcons

Run - Orienteering race 35:46 [5] 6.2 km (5:46 / km) +240m 4:50 / km
shoes: VJ Falcons

JK day 1. Middle distance. First time running in the Forest of Dean. Not a bad area but not very difficult - made two quite big mistakes (30-40 seconds each) at the start as I'm just not used to vague navigating (map was also rubbish). Finished 13th, which I was surprised at after losing so much time. Ran fairly well thought and kept going up the steep hills.

Event: JK 2007

Run - Orienteering race 13:51 [5] 4.0 km (3:28 / km) +70m 3:11 / km
shoes: Asics Gel GT 2100

JK Sprint race. Bristol university campus. Very fast and quite easy. Not used to Sprint racing but had not problems other than with speed. Finished 20th I think which is about as good as I could expect in this type of terrain.

Run - Trail 38:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 2100

Short slow run with Shane from Redmires along Stanedge to the trig point and back. Calves felt awful, tight and didn't want to join in the fun on what was another smashing day.

Spent all day working on an essay. Got a lot of it done but missed running on a beautiful day.

Run - Road 35:30 [2]

Roads and alleys out to Fulwood via Carsick and back. Jogged along quite happily, felt fine but didn't put any effort in.

Bike - Mountain 2:30:00 [0]

Very, very, very slow cycle around Derwent and Howden Res with Hay. Too slow to put in here really but I didn't do anything else, so...

Run - Orienteering 32:30 [5] ***** 5.2 km (6:15 / km) +260m 5:00 / km

BUSA relays. Ran for ShUOC with Little Rob on first, me and then O.J. Rob had a few problems which meant that I had a quite a few runners to chase. Oleg (EUOC) had major problems and alomst caught him, came back 3rd less than a minute down on ShUOC 2 and about half that behind EUOC. OJ got the lead on the last leg but made a small mistake near the end letting EUOC through. Happy with my race, tried from yesterdays hills so struggled on the (very) steep slopes today. Another good area and planning, great weekend.
