Totally awesome course, nice sunny weather most of the run, my first O-race of 2014 and my first event as a new MVOC-er! Also totally exhausting run with the sloggy snow, phew!! Plus the trickiness of the icy river crossings brought in a new dynamic. Ended up hanging upside from logs with legs and arms wrapped around as I scurried in mid-air above the river a couple times, and found some nice ice to walk across a couple other times, probably had at least 8 river crossings. Only got wet right at the end when my right foot broke through the ice. Had an error looking the wrong direction on my way to #10 and got messed up just 2 or 3 more times...oh yeah, got stuck between 2 fences and some nearby sheep, that was a little tense for a bit. Other than that I did fairly well for a first run of the season and especially considering how little I've been working out the past few months. Really grateful for Tom and everyone else who organized this one especially considering the cold. Great event and nice to be getting back into this orienteering thing!
