The map covers the entire city of Vaduz, the capital. The city is smaller than I expected, but then, it's a small country. It sits between the Reine and a steep mountain ridge. The city is mostly flat, but a couple of controls were on the ridge and account for most of the climb.
The Start was a little confusing. There was no clock showing the callup time. The callup was handled by one man. He had a soft voice and some of the time he spoke German and sometime English. People were huddling around to to find out what the time was and who was being called. Fortunately I had a very early start and got through before it got too crowded. It didn't really matter as they were using a Start box (SI). There was a lot of out of bounds (residential, cultivated areas, construction) which added to route choice challenges. The main street through the ctty was also out of bounds and had to be crossed via an overpass, the same one both ways. this let to some map reading challenge as 4 and 15 were the same as well as 5 and 14. Also 4 was on the upper level of a parking garage and the approach was on the street level. This stopped many of us as we tried to figure what was going on. This was also the site of my biggest blunder as I did a 180 leaving 4. Aside from 4, the run was fairly clean, but with a lot of hesitations working out route choices.
This was my first urban event and it was a lof of fun.
