Silas Map Adventure Silas Condict Park
Mostly sunny and cool. A nice day to be in the woods.
With some complex terrain and a detailed map at 1:10000, I expected a challenge. Somewhere on the way to 7 my brain decided it had done enough work for the day and the rest of the course was a struggle. I almost bagged it after 9, as I was on a trail that went back to the finish, but I pushed on.
At least I got plenty of exercise.

Farmland Cycling Tour
Scenic Hudson's bike ride was virtual this year. You had to preregister, then download the app they were using and then download the map you wanted (25 mile or 45 mile). Also available was a list of turn-by-turn directions, which I printed as backup. I loaded the app and data onto two phones. An old one that no longer had phone service (just a mini tablet) and my new one. I planned to use the old phone clamped to the handlebar. When I tried to use this, I found that the app requires internet access. I could have used the new phone, but I wasn't about to clamp it to the handlebar. (I also usually have 'data' turned off). So, I chose to use the turn-by-turn directions. This was a little awkward but worked OK. One wrong turn where the directions were a little vague, but I recovered reasonably quickly.
It was a beautiful day for this: sunny with the temps rising from the upper 50s to the low 70s and very little wind. It was a very leisurely ride.
Fall foliage: Green.
