Baird Park. Cool cloudy, at least to begin and humid. Had some operator problems with the timer, so the time and distance are a little short.

Note

Finally made it to the fair. It took two hours to make what would normally be a forty minute drive. After a couple days rain, the parking area was getting quite muddy, especially the low areas. Getting out was an interesting challenge.

Note

Trip to Webb's (Chauffeur duty). Intended to attend the Dutchess County Fair.
got to about ten miles of the grounds and it started misting. A few miles later, it was pouting. Since we had already bought tickets, we rescheduled to Sunday.

Leisurely effort, a bit tired from yesterday.
Also, no movie today. Their showing a rerun. Boo.

Westmorland: HVO picnic.
Two score type courses available. Preprinted maps. SI.
Brain: W/Y level controls. Each had a multiple choice question. Score points with correct answers. 1:5000 map.
Brawn: Advanced controls. 16 total (10 points each). One hour limit (-5 points each minute overtime). 1:10000 map.
Chose Brawn. Intended to do controls in reverse numerical order. Inadvertently skipped 14, so order was 16-15-13-14-12 ......
Felt really good for about the first 15 minutes, but then the heat, humidity and lack of conditioning began to take hold. Also, this part was mostly down of flat. Went to all controls as I felt extra training was more useful then trying to maximize my score.
Course was advertised as about 6K, but my FR showed 5.5K (not exactly straight line).

Less humid than yesterday, so I managed my normal distance. It was a little short as my route was altered to avoid camper activities on a couple of the ball fields. Ozone was quite noticeable.

Big difference from last Sunday. Last week was fun, this was work. Didn't intend to do the N loop a second time, kept making all of the right turns to do it. There are a couple of options to cut the loop short, but went by them. Hope no damage done.

Note

Now that the latest skin cancers have been dealt with (completely excised and healed), I can resume Platelet donations.

Baird Park.
Cloudy, humid, around 70. A brief shower before heading out. It looked like I'd be indoors again this week. But it stopped and I went to Baird. Not much pep starting out which is up hill, but once at the top, I felt pretty good. Kept the pace up through the measured 3K (21:15) and still felt OK. 37:30 at what I expected to be the half way point. On my way around the southern loop for the second time I was passed by another runner! First one I've seen this summer. He took a different (longer) route and passed me again. Got a little boost from this. Even though he was going faster than me, he didn't pull away very quickly and I could catch glimpses of him on the trail ahead. This helped pull me along. At the three way junction, instead of heading in as I planned, I turned right and went around the north loop again. Dragging at the end, but overall a good effort.
Forgot to bring my Camelback, but didn't seem miss it.

On the plus side: Cooler, dryer, sunny, a slight breeze and a day of rest.
The minus side: Aches in the left hip and groin. This didn't get worse and for the most part went unnoticed.
One of my better runs this summer. Basic loop in 32:30.

Sunny, upper 70s, a really nice day. However, I was warn out from yesterday's effort, so I just plodded around. Still glad to get out.

Saw a small woodchuck along the tennis courts. It didn't run. Injured? Fearless? I detoured. It was gone when I went by there again, about 35 minutes later.

It started raining about a half hour before I was ready t head out for a run. So, change fo plans: watch a movie.
